Guess Who Tuns 21 This Week?

 Gosh it does not seem possible to me that I'm going to have a 21 year old. It's funny how those days with little kids and exhaustion can feel so very long but then looking back it feels like they grew up so fast. 

Ian turns 21 this week and I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I am old enough to have a 21 year old. I mean I don't necessarily feel young when my joints or back are hurting or I'm falling asleep at 8 or 9 at night but I still don't feel old enough to have full grown adults! 

I didn't have much to write about this week so I thought I'd just have fun sharing some pictures of Ian.

he was ALWAYS building and playing with trucks-- my only one that seemed to care at all about trucks

We always referred to him as a "little man" since he seemed so grown up for his age right from the start. Always smiling and happy but somehow still serious and careful. He preferred the company of grown ups most of the time and yet seemed genuinely liked by his peers. 














Gradually it got harder and harder to take photos of him as he refused to be in front of the camera. I started snapping pics from far away or when he was too busy to notice me.



Other times we'd bribe him to get him to cooperate or cajole him to just humor me for a minute. If I could get him laughing I knew I had him.




He built this fort all by himself.



 He seems to be able to build just about anything with any sort of material and can easily drive anything with a motor. He went through the skills at his commercial driver's license class so fast he had to pace himself so that he could also meet the minimum requirement for hours on the road.






 We could not be prouder of the man he's turning into.

    What a great recap! And time along with all of you will keep marching! My oldest turned 50, on his last birthday and I really don't feel old enough fir that!

    Congratulations to your son and Happy Birthday! Life seems to fly sometimes. When we're young, it seems slow. As we age, it seems time speeds up. At least that's how it seems to be in retirement. #MMBC

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. 100 Days of Science #68-- Index Card Tower

My boys did such a wonderful job with their spaghetti bridges and popsicle stick bridges that I decided to look up some other fun STEM challenges.  I found a fun index card challenge that I thought they might like.  I handed each of them a package of index cards from the dollar store and asked them to build the tallest tower they could just using index cards.   Evan struggled quite a bit at first not thinking about folding the cards in any way but once we saw what his older brother's were doing he hatched a new plan.  Every now and then they'd stop to measure their towers.. being very careful not to knock them over. Ian build his tower on our coffee table making sure to use a nice wide base. Ian's tower was the tallest by just a few inches and Evan had the shortest. Weigh- In Wednesday: Protein Bowl Recipe

After rejoining Weight Watchers, I knew I wanted to reinstate my Weigh- In Wednesdays posts. On the third Wednesday of every month I'll have a new post/party up for everyone to share workout tips, weight loss thoughts and ideas, and healthy recipes to fuel us on our journey to better health.  I feel like I've been doing decently well with focusing on organic, whole foods and while I can't say I've seen any huge changes in body mass/weight/muscle mass/etc. I do feel like I have more energy (which is a good thing since I spend SO MUCH more time in the kitchen making/prepping food). Overall I have shed 4 or 5 lbs that I've been keeping off so I'm happy with that. Now that spring is arriving we should be able to get out more for longer hikes and exercise and I can't wait!   I got into such a habit of just eating my fruit/yogurt/granola bowls each morning and I've been making a real concerted effort these past few months to try new things.
