Talking About It Tuesday #62

This week Evan is on spring break and I'm trying to think of some fun stuff for us to do locally (as long as our weather cooperates)! I spent a rainy day yesterday in the kitchen making granola bars, some homemade wheat thin crackers and homemade cheez-it crackers. What have you been up to?

      Thank you! I Googled a few recipes for homemade wheat thins and homemade cheez-it's and found that they were all pretty similar. It didn't take long either; they were simple recipes with just a few ingredients.

      It really was quite easy; I just Googled a recipe for homemade Cheez-it's and with just 4 or so ingredients (butter, cheddar cheese, flour, salt, water and oil) we had crackers. https://cheeseknees.com/homemade-cheez-its-recipe/#wprm-recipe-container-125008

    Enjoy Ethan's spring break. We're expecting a major snow storm tomorrow. :(. I would love to hear more about your homemade crackers. I tried making my own once and it was a disaster.

    We've got spring break here, too. I always thought I wouldn't care about it after my kids are grown, but I ended up going into teaching as they flew the nest, so now I do. ha :) Thanks for hosting! Have a great week.

    My son is catching up on his sleep for spring break lol! He did go the Fox theater in Atlanta with his dad on Sunday night. But we have no grand plans since our spring break is not for a few more weeks.

      Yeah, I kind of hated that my two boys had different breaks so it made it hard to do anything bigger and just day trips here and there for each of them.

    Thanks for hosting! It's "spring bhreak" for my grandchildren, and lucky them they are all vacationing in warmer places for the week. We have happily been avoiding all the snow the mountains have been getting ;ately, but that might change tomorrow as another storm is predicted.

    Our nicer weather has meant painting on the back porch some -- well, we should be painting the back porch...it is in rough shape! lol! Maybe this summer we will do that. We are also enjoying having our windows open. We have been warned that winter could come back again before the end of March!! Eek!

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Movies like Mom's Night Out, Christmas Vacation, and Grown Ups make me laugh out loud. 7.  When my ...

Share Our Lives: How I Spend My Free Time

This month for Share Our lives we're sharing how we enjoy spending our free time and what creative outlets we use to have a bit of fun. With all older teens and young adults in the house I have lots and lots of free time.  I have so many creative outlets that I'm not sure I could even remember them all.    My top 5 include: card making   scrapbooking   painting:     I also love to put together puzzles:       I spend a lot of my free time reading (I even listen to audiobooks while making cards, scrapbooking or putting together puzzles).    I hope you'll join us next month when we all share how we celebrate/spend our birthdays! Our Most Recent Trip to Mystic Aquarium

Evan had spring break at the end of March and we decided to head to Mystic Aquarium one day for a fun outing. He was excited about taking photos of the marine life and brought along my big camera with both lenses. I used my cell phone and between the two of us we got some really great photos.  We managed to see the entire aquarium as well as the sea lion show in just about an hour so I'm not sure it was really worth the hour+ drive to get there but we did have fun. Gosh, I can remember when we used to spend ALL day at the aquarium!  It was crowded and there were some school groups there but they've also taken away several of the smaller exhibits and some areas were closed for refurbishment. It was still fun though. Last Care Package of Freshman Year-- This Time for Easter

I wanted to send Alec one last care package. He didn't plan to come home at all this month and I thought I'd send him a little Easter treat. However, he is coming home for the summer in just few weeks so this time I just stuck to 3 food items (I also sent his package off early this week so he'd have plenty of time to eat and enjoy). The card I made for him   We bought him his favorite chocolate bunny, a bag of snack mix, and some microwave popcorn. I found these printable "just popping by" Easter sayings that I taped to the bags of popcorn.
