Share 4 Somethings in March 2025

The prompts for the entire year will be the same each month—some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of.

Some things I've loved:We loved our time at the orchid show; it was so nice and warm and sunny in the greenhouses and the flowers were so pretty.

We all LOVED Ovo so much! It was a fabulous show!

Evan and I loved our day trip to the aquarium (even if we did wish it had lasted longer; it seems like the exhibits keep shrinking year after year).

Some things I've learned:

I learned some new recipes

we learned so much about so many species of orchids at the show

Some things that went well: The ice and snow have melted so we've had some great hikes; many of them with friends!

Thompson Dam

Cedar swamp trail

Lime rock preserve

Some things I let go of: I cleaned out my closet a bit more and donated 2 bags of clothes; mostly winter stuff that I haven't worn all season.

    1. I liked a few of the recipes but I don't see myself using or trying them all.

  6. I like aquariums, however I have issues with the ethics of confining cetaceans in these, like that beluga or dolphin. They are large intelligent mammals that need room and social interaction in open seas, it's inhumane to hold them captive and they often get sick and depressed. I don't support these with money since the practice is economics driven.

    1. I agree with part of that; however, many of our local zoos and this aquarium have animals that were injured in the wild and unable to be returned to the wild.

    2. That's good to know, in that case they are certainly better off there.

  7. Oh, the orchid show would be so wonderful to take in! And the awesome hikes! Still to wet (and muddy) here to get on our trails....can't wait for things to dry up from melting snow!!

    1. Our trails can be quite wet and muddy but we have enough to pick from that we can often avoid the worst of it.

  8. Good job cleaning out your closet! I do so much better with less choice. I need to do some organizing this weekend.

  11. Feels good to clean out the closet doesn't it?! I just did mine at the beginning of this year and I always feel so much lighter when it's done!

    1. I tend to cull through mine constantly and keep a garbage bag in my closet so as each season goes by whatever I've not been wearing and no longer like goes in.

  12. I've heard that's a good book, I should look for it at the library. Cleaning out closets is so liberating! That OVO show looked good, those usually are amazing. Happy Friday!

  14. When you mentioned the aquarium, it made me think of our science museum. It seems like they have had the same exhibits forever while they used to get touring exhibits frequently. I just cleaned out my closet too!

    1. I think many of the museums, zoos, and aquariums are having a real hard time keeping up with inflation.

  15. I am looking forward to our vacation to Nashville because we will be tourists for a few days: zoo, exhibits, we have done any of that kind of stuff in a while!

  19. Hi Joanne four interesting things that you have shared. We have an orchid that surprises me occasionally by blooming. I loved looking at the specimens you saw at the Orchid show. Thanks so much for sharing with us at #WBOYC?

  21. What gorgeous orchids! I've always wanted to try my hand at them, but we don't have much natural light in this house. I've never been to a Cirque show, but I'd love to see one.

    1. I do have lots of natural light but they can be such finicky flowers and I'm not a very good gardener.

  22. I haven't had the ability to tackle any big projects lately (my closet is a big project lol), but I've been working on it in bits and pieces and have filled two bags so far. The book looks really interesting as I feel like I struggle with cravings, sugar especially. I will check it out. Have a nice weekend!

  23. I am looking forward to nicer weather here so we can start hiking again. I also love learning new recipes. Looks like a great month!

  29. I was given an orchid two weeks ago. It's been so pretty, but I know once the blooms die off, I'll probably never get it to bloom again. ha.

I'm looking forward to some hikes in April, so your photos are inspiring to me. :) I am in the process of cleaning out the top of my closet where I had been piling boxes of old journals and notes, etc. Some things I can easily throw away; other things are hidden treasures! I need to clean out clothes too, but ugh. Maybe later. ha

    1. Best of luck with your new orchid! I've had a few through the years and they've always done really well until I was faced with re-potting them and then I was clueless (turns out I should have just brought it with me to our local nursery and they would have helped me).

  30. What a good feeling to clean out your closet! I bet you are glad to see some of the snow melt. I love orchids and always think of Singapore when I see them. Enjoy your day!

    1. Oh yes I am so glad to see the snow is finally all gone! I hope it stays away until next winter now.

Funny, but for my boys and I the orchids reminded us of Hawaii!
