Weigh- In Wednesday: My Favorite Protein Packed Fruit Dip
After rejoining Weight Watchers, I knew I wanted to reinstate my Weigh- In Wednesdays posts. On the third Wednesday of every month I'll have a new post/party up for everyone to share workout tips, weight loss thoughts and ideas, and healthy recipes to fuel us on our journey to better health.
In fact, the day we returned home I weighed in to find I was at the exact same weight right down to the 10th of a pound. I was quite pleasantly surprised by that and it has spurned me on to keep working out 5 days a week.
I rarely snack anymore during the day but if I do I try to make sure it's something filling and somewhat healthy. One of my friends mentioned making a fruit dip that combines non-fat Greek yogurt and peanut butter or peanut butter powder.
I happened to be starving after our hike that day and decided to try it out for myself. It pairs perfectly with apple slices (and celery too)!
Now she didn't give me any amounts so I had to guess; I started with 1/4 cup non-fat Greek yogurt and added 1 Tablespoon creamy peanut butter. By itself I didn't really like it but mixed with fresh fruit it tastes delicious and it's only 3 points for the whole serving!
That dip looks light and fluffy! Congrats on not gaining weight on your trip. It's so motivating to have little victories- it's great that you've been working out a bunch!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOh thanks for sharing! This sound delish and so healthy and great job Mama!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteWow! That's quite an accomplishment to not gain any weight on a trip! What a great way to begin a New Year! Thanks for the yummy dip idea, too!
ReplyDeleteThat was a great way to start the new year.
DeleteYum! That looks great! I found that I do like Greek non fat plain yogurt with just a squirt of honey and frozen fruit. I do let the fruit defrost and it adds some juice to it.
ReplyDeleteI think I would also like this dip and I have both the powder and the peanut butter on hand.
Good for you! It sounds like you are learning your body, listening to your body, not just eating because of a certain time of day - guilty of that sometimes.
Oh I bet that tastes great too!
DeleteOne of the best tools for weight loss is sugar free candy, in particular chocolates made with stevia.
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of sugar-free candy but I rarely eat candy anyway.
DeleteThis looks like a great snack. I need to try the peanut butter powder, I keep seeing it everywhere in recipes and such.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the powdered PB mentioned in quite a few recipes too. We did try it once but I wasn't a huge fan of it. I eat peanut butter so rarely that when I do I'd rather have the real stuff.
DeleteI am always impressed how you don't gain weight on vacation! That is great to have healthy, protein snacks.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't know how it works because I feel like I eat rather awful on vacation. The only thing I figure is that we're always moving so it must off-set it?!
DeleteThe dip looks good. I may need to try that. We usually just eat apples with straight peanut butter. But I know that's a lot more points.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is but that's my favorite way too. Sometimes I heat up the regular peanut butter and just drizzle a tiny bit on my apple slices.
DeleteCongrats on the weigh in! I was proud of myself for only gaining a pound during the holidays! It's usually far more. I buy a high protein Greek yogurt and put frozen blueberries on it to have for lunch.

Thank you! That sounds yummy too.
DeleteI'm glad to see someone pleased that she maintained weight, not disappointed not to lose more. And working out 5 times a week is impressive. Health is more than a number either way. It sounds like what you are doing is working for you, and that is success. Thanks for the chance to share thoughts from my blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWe love nut butter with our apples, but haven't tried it with yogurt also. Thanks,
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Jodie
You're welcome!
DeleteI make smoothies with fruit and yoghurt, and a bit milk. Very healthy and good for a afternoon dip.
ReplyDeleteI do love smoothies but I hardly ever make them.
DeleteI definitely need to try this: we usually have both in our house, and I need higher protein snacks so I will snack less. Some of my pants are a little snug right now!

Oh I know that feeling; I did so good on vacation but we've had so many treats from our delayed Christmas and Ian's graduation celebration plus we're celebrating Alec's birthday this weekend!
DeleteI too am on WW and find it amazing that when you try it's easy to find delicious low point snacks. This sounds delicious. I used to like to make a smoothie- but now it's over 8 points so Ive stopped.
ReplyDeleteYeah, smoothies are so high in points since you're mashing up all that good fiber and they're so easy to overindulge in.
DeleteI have a tub load of PB powder I bought for some reason!! Ha!! Maybe I could try it with the nonfat yogurt. Or cottage cheese even? It is so hard for me to use points on snacks because there aren't enough points for meals!! Will give this a try and maybe call it lunch!!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way! I try to keep most of my snack very low or zero points to save up for meals.
DeleteI love hummus as a snack, but it can be calorie loaded so I have to watch how much I eat of it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I like hummus with fresh veggies too.
