Talking About it Tuesday #54

Hello and welcome to another Talking About it Tuesday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I hadn't realized it was a 4 day weekend here for many people in the states with Martin Luther King Jr. Day yesterday until Alec and I were talking. He came home for the weekend and was debating about what day to go back to school. We celebrated his 19th birthday this weekend while he was home. The weekend flew right by though as they always seem to do. How was your weekend?

      JWU doesn't have classes on Friday so all the students always have a 3 day weekend!

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Share 4 Somethings in February 2025

Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month and time for Share 4 Somethings with Jennifer. The prompts for the entire year will be the same each month—some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of.  Some things I've loved:  We've had some really beautiful mornings on the lake. Some things I've learned:  I learned how to make homemade crescent rolls!  Some things that went well:  I've been doing so well with my healthy eating! Listening to books like Good Energy motivate me to try even harder. vegetable and farro soup Spinach, mushroom, feta and basil crustless quiche Some things I let go of:  Ian cleaned out our shed and we let go of several of the old bikes, shelves, and assorted bows/arrows that no one was using anymore (with my approval). Winter Collection with The Cookbook Club

 Joanne Tracey over at Brookford Kitchen Diaries has started up a monthly cookbook club and the rules such as they are are loose enough that it's easy to follow along and participate.  This month we were asked to look at either Delia Smith's Winter Collection or Summer Collection and since it is firmly winter here I picked her winter collection.  It was a pretty cookbook but I do wish there had been more photos of the recipes included.  We settled on trying the authentic Ragu Bolognese. We did have to make a couple of modification based on what I could find in the store (plus our own personal taste made chicken livers a no go).  First off we halved the recipe; not knowing if we'd like it or not I didn't want to make so much. The recipe says it makes 16 servings and I figured 8 servings would be perfect with a full box of pasta (that also happens to feed 8!).  I needn't have worried as we all really liked this (even me and I do not normally like ground beef...

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I feel like I have spent the past week catching up with all sorts of family and friends-- I spent Wednesday afternoon on the phone for over an hour with my college bestie, then Thursday I talked with Alec for quite some time, Sunday I got a call from my mom and we got all caught up after not having talked in nearly in a month.
