Talking About it Tuesday #52

I hope your new year is off to a good start! I know I didn't get around to commenting on everyone's post from our last party in December but I ran out of time before heading off on vacation. I DID visit and pin from each post though! I love seeing how much this party has grown and it means a lot to me that so many of you visit each other's posts too. Thank you!

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics.  I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms!  The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2  and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. Sentence a Day in December (2024): The Month We Went to Hawaii!

 Hmm.. I guess that title sounds a little deceiving; we didn't spend the month in Hawaii. Our plans were to spend 5 days on Maui and 5 Days on the Big Island so with travel days were gone for nearly 2 weeks. It was wonderful but exhausting! The weather was beautiful and it didn't hurt that we left snow and single digit temperatures behind.  1. So thankful that the diorama base Ian made for our village survived storage in our basement so well.  Woke to some ice on the lake and decided to stay inside; I packed away all the fall decor and put up our Christmas village then, after dinner, drove Alec back to college. 5,173 steps. a much needed healthy lunch after 3 days of Thanksgiving food and leftovers 2. So thankful for some great home workouts that make me feel strong.  My leg and back were still hurting so I skipped the gym for a home workout then helped Evan with some schoolwork before we went out and ran some errands. 5,145 steps.  3. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Movies like Mom's Night Out, Christmas Vacation, and Grown Ups make me laugh out loud. 7.  When my ...

Maui Day 1 & 2: Arriving, Exploring Kihei, and Haleakala National Park

 Oh my gosh, Hawaii is SO FAR from Connecticut. The ONLY thing about this trip I was truly dreading (aside from someone getting sick/injured and ruining our plans entirely) was the very long plane ride..  We headed to Hartford, Ct the night before our flight. We slept at the Holiday Inn express and woke up at 2:30/3:00 in the morning to get our car dropped off. Our flight was leaving at 6 am and the airport was so crowded!  We landed in Dallas on time to open our app and find that our Hawaii flight was boarding in 45 minutes and we still had to deplane and get across terminals (not quite the hour and 45 minute layover I had planned on).  We found our plane/terminal, ran to the bathroom and some of us grabbed food from a grab and go mart. Our flight from Dallas was 7 or so hours long and they did serve some food/snacks (that none of us really liked or ate) and we had inflight entertainment. The Best Books I Read in 2024 & Share Your Shelf #9

I hope you all have had a lovely holiday season! I just got back from Hawaii and am still struggling with jet lag. Knowing that would be the case I had this post all ready to go before our trip. I'll share the books I read in December and January at next month's link up. For this month's link up I thought I'd reflect back on the books I read in 2024 (excluding December). If I counted/added right I read 139 books from Jan- December!  Typically when I write up my favorite books of the year post I just pick one favorite book from each month. I thought I'd change up the format this year and pull favorite books from various genres.. it seems like no matter which format I pick I have a really hard time picking favorites!
