10 Most Popular Posts of All Time

Each year near the end of December/ beginning of January I share the top 10 posts of the year but this year, in particular, I have noticed some much older posts that are still bringing in lots of pageviews and thought it would be fun to look back and see a top 10 list of all time.

I started my blog in June of 2012 and while so many of my first posts were long blocky, chunky rambles without any real photos of us and our family I just can't bring myself to delete any of them as I really do enjoy looking back and seeing how my blog has change and grown over time. Not surprisingly all my top 10 posts are from more recent years.

I love to look at what is popular and try to figure out WHY each post is so popular. Most of the time I can't but I love to speculate anyway.

10. Our 2022 Disney/Universal Trip Day 1 & 2 has almost 2000 views. Who doesn't love Disney and the Magic Kingdom? 😊

9. My Would You rather; Fall Edition had well over 3,000 pageview. I do, however, think that a large part of this is due to the lovely graphic that Life by Wyetha let me share.

8. While many of my recipes tend to do well, for whatever reason, these Zebra Cookies have had over 4,000 views. Since I feel like this is such a basic cookie recipe I have got to assume it's the catchy name I came up with.

7. I was so thrilled to see that one of our 100 days of science activities made the list. Day #68-- Index Card Tower came in 7th with well nearly 5,500 pageviews. We have had so many fun hands on learning projects and experiences and this is one I nearly had forgotten about myself!

6. My Favorite Historical Fiction Novel About WWI & WWII has nearly 7,000 pageviews. It makes me think I really need to share some of my favorite novels from other time periods or genres.

5. I was thrilled to see Throwing a Fabulous 70th Birthday Party at the Last Minute make the list because while I loved how it all came together we really did throw this whole party together at the last minute! Fitting that it had over 7,000 pageviews keeping that 7-0 thing going.

4. Things that Make Me Laugh got 13,200 pageviews and I have no idea why!

3. Let's Look: Our Medicine Cabinet had 15,000 pageviews and I'm kind of surprised. If anything I expected our pantry makeover/look (that post is here if you care) to be much more popular.

and yes, nearly 2 years later our cabinet still looks like that!

2. Dollar Store Candy Cane Wreath with over 52,800 views; I just LOVE that one of my crafting ideas took off! I love this wreath and it was pretty easy to make.

1. I was so surprised that the most viewed post was one from earlier this year! Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's & Early 90's  already has 58,335 views. For me that is HUGE! I do not monetize or advertise my blog in any way so I'm beyond thrilled when a post reaches over 1,000 views.

  1. Wow, your numbers are impressive!! My posts aren't well viewed but I don't do much to advertise them (I only recently started doing link ups and such). I enjoy writing and that has to be its own reward- not lots of pageviews, lol. With the number of pageviews you have, it seems like you could monetize your blog and make some money off of it. Have a great weekend!

  5. I love the look back posts that will be featured by so many great bloggers, like yourself! Nice variety by the way! Melynda @scratchmadefood!

  6. That is fun to look at. It's funny which ones are popular, one of my most popular is a bucket list post and I'm not sure why! It's fun that a book one is on here too!

    1. Yeah, sometimes I'm just really stumped on why some posts take off and others don't (particularly when I feel like they are fairly similar-- like why that Disney trip page and not the others?). But it is fun to see.

  7. I always look and see what my most popular posts of all time are and they're so random. I cringe at some of my older posts but I won't delete them either as it shows how far I have came.
What a fab collection of posts.

    1. Exactly! I did try to go back and add some free/stock images so they at least have some photos but wow they are really quite bad.

  8. Wow! It's always so fun to see what has the most views! My most viewed blog post was one I published called "How to Get Rid of Fleas". Every year I can't get over the fact that I pour my heart and soul in my blog and my most viewed post is one I wrote 10+ years ago about getting rid of bugs hahahaha.

  9. Super fun and I can totally see why people loved these! I want to make that candy cane wreath and those cookies now!

  10. It's funny to wonder why some posts get views, isn't it? Off to see your Zebra cookies!

  11. Oh I can TOTALLY see why that candy cane wreath has so many views! It is fabulous! And isn't it weird the posts that get the most views? I was just looking at mine for 2024 this morning and my first most-viewed is a post about throwing a Taylor Swift birthday party which I totally understand given she is so popular right now, but my second most-viewed post of the year is the one that I wrote about My Top 10 favorite shows, too! That is SO funny that's your most-viewed, too!! Why oh why did so many people want to read those? Haha.

    1. Aw, thank you! I was surprised at that one too but I guess it's a combination of nostalgia and people feeling like there is nothing good on TV anymore... maybe?

  12. This was fun and has me curious about what my top ten would be. My early posts had small pictures because I didn't know any better. Like you I won't delete. The description of life in that season is one I enjoy reading back on too. Have a nice weekend!

  13. That's so funny that certain unexpected posts got so many views! I think one of my top posts is one I did about cleaning a glass shower with dawn and vinegar. Have a good weekend!

  15. That was fun to look back on the top posts of all time. At the end of the year, I usually look back at the top posts of the year, but haven't really thought of all time. Fortunately I'm on a new platform and don't have to look at those cringy early posts. They were just whatever was in my head, with no thought to design, or of making the post look interesting.

  16. Congrats on all of these accomplishments. I don't have the vaguest idea of how to find how many times a post has been viewed. I'm afraid I'd probably cry anyway so it's just as well!

  17. Isn't it lovely to look back t to read the old posts. I lost 4 years of blog posts when i got a new hosting company. Such a pity. Have a great weekend.

  19. A great reflection on your blog's journey and growth over the years! It’s interesting to see how certain posts, like your Disney trip and Zebra Cookies, continue to attract attention. The success of your content speaks to the joy and creativity you share, and it's fun to think about why each post resonates.

  20. Congrats on all of your blog statistics. I remember reading about your pantry organization. The candy cane wreath looks great. Thank you for your weekend coffee share.

  21. It’s so fun to see how your blog has evolved. I totally get why the Zebra Cookies post is a hit—sometimes a catchy name makes all the difference! And how awesome that your 80s/90s TV shows post is your most popular. Nostalgia is powerful! Thanks for sharing this fun recap!

  22. This was so fun to read! I think I first started reading our blog about the time you posted your favorite TV shows from the 80's and 90's. I love the variety you share!

  23. It is so fun to see what got the most hits for you, and such odd things too. One never knows how or why a post goes viral. My biggest blog hit of all time is "How to Quickly and Easily Add Belt Loops to Pants". Nothing seems to knock it off! I am tempted to remove it from my blog so something else will appear in my top five.

  24. Wow this amazing! I used to get a lot more page views than I do now but I still enjoy blogging for me. I'm so glad I have it to look back on!

  25. I found your blog from Julie's Creative Lifestyle and I totally get it about not wanting to delete those old rambling family posts from way back. They are a sweet reminder of when the kids were small and I love them. I have to check out your books about WWII since my dad flew in a B-17 over Germany and historical fiction from that period is my favorite. My daughter just recommended The Storyteller and I haven't read it yet, but she said it was amazing.

  27. Hi Joanne,
I was interested to see which of your posts attracted the most traffic. I really enjoyed your post looking at the TV Shows. That really took me back. I really scaled back my blogging over the last couple of years but might be feeling a bit more inspired. I've really become interested in art as well as writing and that might be a new direction for the blog. Writing about family life was a significant part of my blog and my kids are now 20 and 18 and can't really write much about them anymore due to obvious privacy concerns. Living with my health issues was another factor but I'm going well atm so I've moved on from there. I have also almost filled up my quota of photos and there's a steep cost increase to go to the next level. So I'm sort of pottering along doing the Weekend Coffee Share and occasional post.
Hope you have a great week.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

    1. Yeah, I find every few years I sort of pivot the blog a bit to write about other things; especially as the kids grow!
