What's Up Wednesday October 2024
It's the last Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for What's Up Wednesday. Another month is wrapping up and once again I am so surprised it's already over.
What We're Eating:
Sunday: steak, baked potato, and green beans with salad
Monday: Chicken pot pie with flaky crust (mostly because I need photos for the blog post since all my all photos were deleted from the blog!)
Tuesday: Egg roll in a bowl (I use this recipe from Holly) with rice (riced cauliflower for me)
Wednesday: Homemade chicken fingers with fries (butternut squash fries for me) with corn on the cob and salad.
Thursday: Homemade lasagna with salad and freshly baked garlic bread. (Though I'm not sure if I'll make it in a loaf pan or do a whole 13x9 for leftovers)
Friday: We're heading to Maine for the night with Evan to check out another college so Ian will be on his own and Alec is staying at college this weekend. The 3 of us will pick something up on the way.
Saturday: I'm not sure what time we'll be home from Maine or how hungry we'll be (most of these colleges put out quite a spread for their open houses!) so I have no idea what we'll do for dinner.
What I'm Reminiscing About: I am not a Halloween or costume or dress up fan but I do have lots of fond memories of taking the boys trick or treating at our local zoos during their zoo boo days. Fall is always our favorite time to visit the zoos and a few years both my sisters went with their kids too!
What I'm Loving: Our weather has been fabulous this month and I am loving it.
Hiking purgatory chasm with friends |
We hiked Pachaug state forest too |
I made apple pies for the season |

Another fabulous hike |
a RZR ride |
I hope the college visit goes well! Glad your weather has been great- so has ours. While I don´t hike too much, I do enjoy walks into town and around our neighborhood. That is great that your mom found a place already in NC. Have a great day!

Thank you so much!
DeleteGreat hiking photos! This is really the best time of year for that! Your meals look great, too!
ReplyDeleteIt really is the best time of year for hiking!
DeleteOh wow! That chicken pot pie looks amazing and the lasagne too!
ReplyDeleteThe parents weekend at college looks like great fun!
Thank you!
DeleteI'm so jealous of all your hiking! Love the outfits - I want to wear fall clothes but we're still having highs in the 80s and it's so gross out. I haven't caught up on Fire Country this season, and I want to watch Doctor Odyssey but haven't yet!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! We had a week or so with highs in the 80's and it's supposed to be 79 tomorrow but I don't mind these bursts of warm weather since it's been chilly most of the time.
DeleteOur weather has been the same and I am loving it too! You've made some delicious looking meals this month. I've been working on my book post since I missed September. Hope you had a nice visit with your son and this new college visit goes well.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteSounds like a great month! I would love to do some fall hikes, but I get out of breath easily these day ha
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIt looks like a fun parents weekend! I am glad to hear your parents found a place in NC. What a great place to visit and you can get your sweet tea! :)
ReplyDeleteExactly! LOL.
DeleteKids sure grow up fast! Thank God for grandchildren! All your food looks delicious, the hikes are incredible. Visiting from Wordless Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteThey really do; mine all tell me they'll never have kids but my mom and I have cautioned them that we both said the same thing and she ended up with 4 to my 3 so you really never know.
DeleteLove the fall outfits! Have fun on your college visit :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI hope the college visit goes well! And, as always, I love the throwback pictures!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI'm sure your drive to Maine will be beautiful with coloured leaves. Have a great time.
ReplyDeleteI hope so though I know it's getting a list past season already. Even here most of the colors are off the trees now...
DeleteI bet the trip to Maine will show you some beautiful fall color. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHi Joanne what a full week with baking and the chicken pie looks delicious. The scenery where you live is stunning and so uplifting. The boys look great in their costumes and I do love a poncho when the weather starts to cool. Thanks so much for linking up and sharing with us at #WWWhimsy. Have a lovely week. Sue L. #TeamWWWhimsy
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteThe sloth is so cute! My eldest and I flew to Melbourne to see 21 Pilots about a decade or more ago, when they were still pretty small time...it was very fun! #WWWhimsy
ReplyDeleteThey have definitely grown in their following since then!
DeleteI love that you're not dreading anything!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the curls look great on you
Xoxo
Jodie

Thank you so much!
DeleteI always enjoyed college visits though we didn't go on many. It really made me wish I'd gone away to college. I'm always so impressed by your cards!

I went on a ton when I was in high school; I just could not make up my mind and I have a feeling Evan is going to be the same!
DeleteSince my doc told me I am just in the range of pre diabetic, I am going to work on low sugar, low carb meals for myself and actually eat breakfast. Hoping that my numbers will be different by this time next year. I'm hoping for a hike on Sunday afternoon.

I hope so too!! Best of luck, Mireille.
DeleteLove your outfits!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI sure wish I could say that I'm wearing all the warm clothes and pants and sweaters, but we are still wearing short sleeves and sandals over here. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOh I wish! It's getting to be coat and scarf season here and I just hate that so much; the long sleeves and pants I'm fine with but I really hate bulky coat season.
