Weigh-in Wednesday-- A Not So Typical Week of Eating and Exercise

After rejoining Weight Watchers, I knew I wanted to reinstate my Weigh- In Wednesdays posts. On the third Wednesday of every month I'll have a new post/party up for everyone to share workout tips, weight loss thoughts and ideas, and healthy recipes to fuel us on our journey to better health.

I thought I'd showcase a "typical" week from Sept 11th- Sept. 17th sharing typical meals and exercise routines. But while our movement was quite typical, I found that taking photos of my meals and food to share with you all led to me being much more intentional about my meals than usual. In fact I managed to shed 3 lbs. this week by mostly sticking to zero/low point meals!

Wednesday Sept 11th I started the day going to the gym with my mom. We attend a gym called Workout 4 Women that runs a circuit workout like Curves used to do. It takes us anywhere from 30-45 minutes to work out.  Evan and I did go hiking on this particular day too at Mashamoquet and we hiked for an hour or so.

Breakfast consisted of fruit and yogurt (no granola today!) for zero points

Lunch was an omelet with fat free feta and leftover veggies-- another zero point meal.

Dinner was a Hawaiian pineapple and ham sheet pan dinner with whole wheat orzo; I only ate the veggies and orzo with a salad.

Yellow beets, pineapple, onion, tomatoes, and green peppers

Sept. 12th:  We met up with our hiking group at Bigelow, picked a route, and ended up hiking 3 1/2 hours! Oh boy were my legs and feet so sore after that but it was a lovely day for a hike. In fact, I wished I had worn shorts by the time we made it back around to our cars.

Breakfast: just fruit and yogurt again today

Lunch: by the time I made it back home it was nearly 2 so I jumped in the shower, grabbed an apple and a handful of mixed nuts then went right back out again to go pick up our CSA box. I was starving but had no good grab and go foods around!

Dinner was quite large-- salad, corn on the cob, baked potatoes, and grilled chicken. I even used croutons, Brummel & Brown yogurt spread for my corn and potatoes and figured I had earned my meal after all that hiking.

Friday the 13th: I went to the gym with my mom.

Breakfast: fruit, yogurt, & granola (3 points w/ 1/4 cup granola)

Lunch: Salad with a peach, tuna, and a bit of dressing.  (3 points for the mayo in the tuna and the light dressing on the salad)

Snack: a plates of fruit and veggies

Dinner: An egg casserole with salad and broccoli.  I guessed around 7 points total for the meal but it was a new recipe and I was much too lazy to plug in each ingredient on the egg casserole to calculate it.

14th-- Evan and I went on a short hike around Pulaski park; maybe 30 or so minutes. Later in the day my husband and I walked up to get the mail which for us is at least a good 15-20 minute walk.

Breakfast: Egg sandwich with mushrooms and peaches-- the only point were the bread. I like the When Pigs Fly Brand, even though it's 6 points for the 2 slices I like that there are only a handful of real ingredients in it.

Lunch: fruit and yogurt-- I NEEDED a zero point lunch since my husband unexpectedly brought me home a maple frosted donut from Dunkin'-- that I ate that was 12 points!

Dinner: Turkey breast, green beans, roasted potatoes and salad.

15th-- We helped my parents pack up their house and move their belongings into storage

Breakfast-- I wanted a zero point breakfast since I knew my mom was serving pizza for lunch. I had some fruit.

Lunch-- Pizza, cookies, all the junk food!

Dinner-- I had made a crock pot lasagna before leaving the house. I had some leftover green beans and a slice of bread and butter to go with it. I'm just awful about eating "right" once I've blown my diet for the day.  And even worse about splurging on the weekends!

Monday the 16th-- Gym with my mom and a nice walk to the mailbox and back.

Breakfast-- Fruit and yogurt with just 2 Tablespoons of  granola. (I counted it as 3 points)

Lunch-- Salad with tuna and apple slices-- another 3 points for mayo and dressing.

Dinner-- Roast beef pot pie with peas-- I guessed (again!) that this was around 7 points but I did look up other roast beef pot pies that are commercially prepared and picked one in the mid-range.

Yesterday the 17th-- Evan and I managed an hour long hike at the Thompson Dam after his schoolwork but before our late lunch.

Breakfast-- omelet with zucchini/onion/mushrooms/etc. 0 points!

Lunch-- Fruit and yogurt with 2 Tablespoons of granola (2 points)

Dinner-- Chicken fajita bowls over jasmine rice (just 1/2 cup of the rice--- 3 points, cheese-- 2 points, and sour cream-- 2 points).  With salad and homemade oil free sugar free Italian dressing for 0 points.

  5. Your meals look good! It's really easy to get off track, especially with the sweet treats (at least for me). You get a lot of exercise which I find is the key to me actually dropping any weight. Keep on keeping on!

  9. Joanne,
Thanks so much for all your visits...I am behind as I am trying to get my inside Falloween decorating done... Good for you on your weight loss... I gained about 10 pounds since March when Joe became ill and then passed away... I have been trying to get back on my walking routine but the heat that we had this Summer made it impossible for me who suffers from heat and sun sensitivity due to my auto immune disease. Not an excuse, just a fact...I am back on my 16 hour Intermittent Fasting with my one meal a day.... I have to get myself back on track and take off the weight that I gained because I am now the only parent my kids have and I want to see twin grand daughters at least grow up a bit.....

    1. That is hard! I find that while there are so many great walk at home videos I'm just not nearly as motivated to workout indoors as I am outdoors!

  11. Those are such healthy meals! I am just guessing, do you come way under with your points each day? Do they encourage you to reach your points most days?

    1. It depends on the day; some days I use all my points others I have some left over. You can roll over 4 per day which I was trying to do knowing our weekend was going to be more unhealthy than usual. They used to have an "optimal" range were you wouldn't get a blue dot for that day unless you used enough points and didn't go too far over your given points for any given day. But it seems like they've done away with that.

  12. My friend just shared an app she uses for helping to Analyze the ingredients in our purchased items (the mayo you used made me think of it)
It's called Yuka and I'll be interested to see how it works.

  13. I am just like you...if I've blown it once, I just keep on doing it! I remember, back in the day, if you weren't eating enough, the counselors would sometimes advise eating just a bit more for a couple of days. That would kickstart something. It would work for me, and then it wouldn't. I think it's impressive how much exercise you get in your days!

    1. Thank you! I do find sticking to an exercise routine difficult since I'm often tempted to skip it "just this once"... only it's never just once.
