Fall Care Package For Alec

I had planned to send Alec one care package a month while he was away at school but I actually found this much harder to put together than I thought. I wanted to make sure I wasn't filling his dorm room with any more "stuff" and yet I know there is nothing that he really needs.

I finally decided to just send a small box of fun things for him and his friends to eat, a sheet of window clings for his window all fall themed, and a fun (consumable!) bottle of air freshener-- small and sweet and lets him know we're thinking of him but shouldn't take up much space in their dorm.

I stamped up some plain white tissue paper with leaves in fall colors and tucked in a handmade fall card from my collection/set of pre-made cards.

  1. I think a box full of mostly snack type items is perfect for a care package! I sent Alyssa a package that was supposed to have arrived last Thursday. I saw Alyssa on Monday when I took her and her roommate back to college after they saw a concert in TN. She didn't say anything about receiving one. I decided to ask her if she'd received anything. She said she hadn't but she had received a note that she had a package and needed to go to the mail room to pick it up. She hadn't done that yet. It cracked me up that I saw her before she received the package!! I could have just handed it to her, lol! Love the stamped tissue paper. Why haven't I thought of that? Oh, yeah, I don't have stamps. I just may have to change that. I love that paper. Have a great Thursday!

    1. My hope was to send one a month but that may not end up making sense since we're seeing him 3 weekends in a row in October!

  5. How fun! We have been seeing my son a lot more than I expected and usually what he gets is some more Gatorade! He is actually spending a couple days at home since even his classes were canceled because of the storm. So he will get yummy meals at home!

    1. Alec has 3 day weekend every week since JWU doesn't have classes on Friday but he hasn't wanted to come once yet! He's also never called home or asked us to send anything to him either. I think he really likes being independent! I do text or call every Friday or Saturday just to check in and see how everything is going. It really sounds like he's loving it... from those one and two word answers I get. LOL

  8. Great package! I did this for Sophia when she went off to college. You're right, you don't want to add more clutter to a small dorm space but snacks to share are always fun and I love the color-coordination for fall. Poo-pourri is hilarious!
