Currently in September

It's the first Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for the currently link up with Jennifer. This month we're talking about what we're currently Loving, Looking forward to, Smelling, Watching, and Admiring.

Loving: We had the best time at Foxwoods Sunday and Monday. We saw Gabriel Iglesias comedy show--his Don't Worry Be Fluffy tour, ate at some amazing restaurants, explored the outlet stores, and even did a tiny bit of gambling (and by tiny I mean we spent all of $15 on slot machines!).

looking forward to: All the pretty leaves changing color and starting up hiking with our weekly hiking group!

smelling: I'm trying to burn my candles more so lately I'm smelling lots of coconut and vanilla.

watching: All things murder-- Only Murders in the Building, How to Get Away with Murder, Good Girl's Guide to Murder... my husband said he's starting to get worried. LOL.

admiring: The resiliency of youth! Alec had a really bad day last week where he called us all upset and crying (you can read more about what happened here). We got him all calmed down and decided I'd pick him up the next afternoon after his classes were done for the week (they have Fridays off) and work on getting everything fixed while he was home for the long weekend. Well, by the next afternoon he told me it wasn't that big a deal and he'd been using the school computers so he'd rather stay on campus until at least Friday afternoon even if that meant he had no laptop for a few weeks. He ended up only being home from Friday night until Sunday afternoon since he wanted to get back to school/friends.

  1. Glad that Alex pushed through and has made friends and likes to be at school. Alyssa wanted to come home for just a day which I took to be a very good sign- she has made friends and is having fun when she isn´t studying which has been a huge relief to me. That ¨embrace" candle is pretty and sounds like it would smell amazing!

  4. So glad Alec persevered and is thriving. It's been interesting to hear all the stories of our kids getting used to college. Luckily my son is loving every moment away. Lol!

    1. Alec was a bit stressed a few days before all that happened with his computer since the school had made his schedule with classes on the 2 different campuses with only a 15 minute break in between and not enough time to get to his second class so he had to figure out how to change his schedule but I do think he's handling everything really well.

  9. I'm sure the computer mess was a life lesson and I'm glad he has made friends and is doing well in spite of that. I love the British detective shows especially. Have you watched Broadchurch? I've only seen one season but it was excellent. I love the colors of fall and look forward to the changing seasons here. We have a lot of pine, but the very nearby mountains explode with color and I love that.

    1. He has definitely had lots of life lessons already but has, what sounds like, some really great friends already. I will have to look for Broadchurch; I hadn't heard of that one before.

  15. Must have been such a shock. He is certainly very resilient. I am glad you were there for him when he needed you the most. As I live in California and there is always a chance of earthquake, I don't burn candles any more. Coconut and vanilla sounds lovely. Enjoy!

    1. Aw, thank you! I rarely burn candles and prefer using candle wax melts/warmers since I don't do well with an open flame.

  16. Poor Alec! That must have been so stressful but I hope everything got sorted. I am so ready for autumn and all the cosy feels! How good is Only Murders - I can't wait to start the new season - and reading your post reminded me we still haven't finished How to Get Away with Murder - that's also a cracker of a series!

    1. Aw, thank you! We got him an IT guy to sort out his laptop and his bank was great getting everything switched over to a new account nice and quickly for him. I often find myself rolling my eye or yelling at the characters on How to Get Away with Murder but we're in the last season now and I want to know how it all ends!

  19. Fall is my favorite season. Color of leaves, the smell of the air, fall festivals are just a few of the reasons I enjoy this time of year. Alec sounds like he is enjoying his time at school. Maybe not missing home so much? New friends too! Candles. I love the smells too!
    This was a fun read.

  20. Hi Joanne, those candles look and sound gorgeous. I love candles! I'm with you about looking forward to Autumn (Fall) leaves. We don't really get them here in Queensland, Australia as it's too warm but I always go away somewhere where I can enjoy them. It sounds to me like Alec has some great parents looking out for him! Thanks for linking up with #WWWhimsy - enjoy the rest of your week! xo

  22. I'm glad Alec was able to figure out the hacking problem. I always wish these people would spend their brain power on good things instead of making life miserable for others. I'm looking forward to fall, but I haven't decorated yet. I may even have Christmas scents out yet!

  25. I do enjoy the smell (perfume) of candles....but I did leave one burning once and left the house...it had burnt right down and not caused damage. Phew. Made me realise I needed to be careful. Anyway what good news on the Alec front. He is making some big changes for sure, as are his parents!! Denyse #TeamWWWhimsy

  26. *just casually coming out of hibernation* 😂 Thank you for the reminder to burn my candles. I stopped when Pudge came along (although that was my own fear, I doubt she would have even noticed them LOL), and I kind of miss it! I recently got a "Fruity Loops" one that smells incredible just in the jar! Ah, crises aside, hearing about your son makes me kind of want to go back to college... just not freshman year, haha! Hope you all are doing well!

  30. So glad everything worked out with Alec and he bounced back! Love your husband's comment about wondering if he should worry based on the shows you're watching! LOL We really like ONly Murders in the Building, but I haven't watched all of it like my husband - I've been saying I need to binge watch to get the episodes I missed. Hope everything is going well!
