Talking About It Tuesdays #34

Well, this is the week! In just a few short days we drop Alec off at college. I find that I am more excited than anything-- I really feel like he's found the perfect place for himself and he's already got a pretty great friend group going as well as a couple of really nice mentors from upper grades that I've met (one of whom hugged me at our last visit!) LOL.  He's excited, his classes sound great, and he's just so darn ready to go.

It's Tuesday and time for another link party! We had quite a few brand new *to me* blogs linking up last week and I loved seeing some new faces and ideas.

The link with the most views from last week's party:

Day in the Life -- 8/13/24 by Sunshine & Books

A few that caught my eye:

Iceland Glacier and Iceberg Tours by Curated by Jennifer

Style Imitating Art: "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" by Marsha in the Middle

This party will remain open until the weekend.  My hope is that everyone will share all sorts of wonderful posts: travel, recipes, how to's, crafting ideas, and more.  Anything that is family friendly is welcome; even old posts that you'd like to get some new views.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  1. Awww - sounds like you are in a good place with Alec leaving. That will help so much. Do let yourself adjust to your new normal.

  3. That is great that Alec already has friends. Alyssa made a couple of friends at orientation and she has already seen one of them (no small feat when the campus is huge and the students are numerous; I am glad they sought each other out). It sounds like Alec is going to a great place!

    1. I'm kind of surprised that we've started recognizing some faces already; especially since JWU has what is essentially 2 campuses! But I love that we have.

  4. That's so nice that Alec has friends in college already. My kids really struggled with that. Thanks for the party.

    1. I did too; I don't think I have a single friend I can remember from college-- a few acquaintances I had classes with and hit it off with but none that I can remember spending time with away from class.

  5. Wow, friend. Big changes for him, big changes for you. Knowing that they are happy and doing well makes these huge transitions just a bit kinder for us.

    1. I think that definitely helps! He's also just my super confident, unfazed by much of anything kind of kid so he takes so much of it in stride and I try like crazy to follow his lead.

  6. Best of luck with the college drop off! I am sure it'll be a mix of emotions, but great things are waiting for him :)

  7. I'll be thinking of you this week, Joanne! It's so reassuring for a mama's heart to know that her child is ready and excited for what's ahead! Wishing you and Alec a wonderful last few days at home and safe travels as you prepare for the big drop off!

  9. I felt like that with my oldest--he was ready and it was just time, so it made it a lot less sad for me. He struggled with making friends, so I'm glad Alec already has some! Thanks for hosting the party. I hope your week is great.

  17. That is exactly how I feel with my son: I am really excited for him! This is his first week of class, and he is also going to do the recreational swim team at his school: that will keep him fit and moving and not studying all the time! He just got season tickets for the home games (the school is not a top school for football but it will be good entertainment and the field is 3 min from his dorm). I think he is going to have a great time and maybe a little of a challenge in his class which will be good for him.
