Currently in August

It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for the Currently link up with Jennifer. This month we're sharing what we're currently loving, looking forward to, dreading, eating, and buying.

Loving: I finally got those creative juices flowing last week and am nearly all caught up on scrapbooking up until mid-June (which is the last batch of photos I ordered). I got 10 pages done in just 2 days! I'll have a full post up at the end of the month with all my pages but here's a sneak peek at a couple of my favorites.

Looking forward to: We have lots of fun fall plans-- a concert, an overnight trip to see a comedy show, parent's weekend at Alec's college. I'm really looking forward to them all.

Dreading: I'm not really dreading anything but I am very aware that fall is going to mean some serious changes for our family. With Alec off at school, Evan taking college courses AT our local college and my mother and step-father moving to North Carolina lots of things will be completely different this year. (If you're looking for a house here's a link to theirs; they had their open house this past weekend) Even our holidays will not be at all the same. I think I am good with these changes but am very aware that I might be more emotional than I think...

Eating: ALL the veggies from our CSA boxes!

strawberry chicken salad from the Pub 99

chicken salad sandwiches with lettuce and tomato, cucumbers and peaches

fruits and veggies with a wrap of cream cheese, chives, and turkey

chicken and vegetable kabobs with rice

salad, zucchini "fries" in the air fryer with a tuna grinder

2-ingredient WW bagels with homemade blueberry jam and peaches

Tuna sandwich on a 2-ingrdient bagel with peaches, cucumbers, and tomatoes

tofu fajita salad

chicken and shrimp teriyaki stir fry with veggies

zucchini, squash, mushrooms and onions over pasta

tuna on rice cakes with salad

fruit/ yogurt/ granola

2 ingredient WW bagels with homemade strawberry jam and mixed berries

baked potato, asparagus, and salad

omelet, toast, and zucchini/mushrooms

salad, corn on the cob, pasta salad and a veggie burger

Buying: ALL the college things.

His pile of college "stuff" so far though we're waiting for his uniforms to come in and haven't packed anything he wants to take with him from his room/around the house

I did buy myself a new pair of pants this month; I have been LOVING these gauze pants so much that I broke down and bought them in this pretty coral color too.

Alec bought these two plants for his dorm room too! What can I say? He's my nester and wants to make his dorm room nice and cozy and homey for the year.

  1. So many veggies! So inspiring!
Those pants! They come in short length, but they are sold out of the color I would like. Aerie is really great! So happy with my Aerie stuff.
So your mom is moving close to your sis? That is sad for you -I'm sorry.
You are going to have lots of change this fall. I hope you will find your new normal and that it brings blessings you didn't expect.

    1. Aw, thank you! Yeah, my mom is hoping to move between my two sisters (they both live in North Carolina about an hour and a half away from one another). BUT she will be back up here in New England for summers so we'll still get to see her for several months each year.

  2. Love the plants that Alec bought! I am team real plant all the way even though the fake ones now look pretty good ;). Lots of upcoming changes for you. Glad you´re being realistic about the possibility of feeling lots of feels.

    1. That made my heart so happy when he informed me that we had to stop at a few nurseries so he could find the specific plants he wanted. I had no idea he planned to have plants in his dorm room!

  3. That's a lot of change for you that's coming up. I am glad to know that you'll be okay with it, or that you're embracing a new season of life. I love that Alec bought plants for his dorm! Funny thing, at the top of this post, I saw my face in a picture and forgot this was your blog for a minute, and then I read about how you finally caught up with scrapbooking your recent trips. I'm so glad we had that trip! It was so much fun; but it made me crave gooey butter cake ice cream. 🤣

  5. It is hard with all the big changes, but also exciting. Reminds me of all the stuff I bought for college 13 years ago!

  9. All that food!!! Delicious! Also, those coral pants look so good on you! Our kiddos are going back to school for the first time in two years (since we only have one year left here), and I have so many feelings about it, too. The start of school is always a transition!

  11. Okay, all the fruit and veggies look so good! Love the coral pants on you. Hope your son has a great year at college!

  12. Oooh I love the color of those pants. I had a not quite ripe nectarine yesterday which was disappointing. It looked ripe, but nope. The transition to a somewhat empty house takes time. Holidays with adult kids I have to say are not the same, but you create new traditions, make the most of the times you do have together, and adjust expectations and keep going. Give yourself some grace as it's not just the child moving into adulthood, it's also momma moving in to a new season as well.

    1. Thanks! We'll still have all our guys with us this holiday season but it will be weird with my mom gone. I don't think I've ever celebrated Thanksgiving or Christmas without her! BUT we do have a Hawaii trip planned for most of December so I'm thinking it's not even going to really feel like Christmas.
