After rejoining Weight Watchers at the very end of April (on the 26th to be exact). I knew I wanted to reinstate my Weigh- In Wednesdays posts. I thought I'd make it a link party if you'd like to join in. On the third Wednesday of every month I'll have a new post/party up for everyone to share workout tips, weight loss thoughts and ideas, and healthy recipes to fuel us on our journey to better health.
After weighing in at 165 for 2 months in a row it's so hard not to be discouraged to see the scale mostly hanging out at 167-166 with occasional dips. I did weigh in at 164.2 this past weekend so I'll take that less than 1 pound loss and be thankful for it.
When I first joined WW in 2019 I easily lost a pound or two a week! But I guess my body has just adjusted to this healthier lifestyle and so it's much harder to make those changes now.
I'm guessing I need smaller portion sizes and to cut out sugar completely from my diet but I am the queen of making excuses as to why that won't work.

Fresh veggies, eggs, and 2 ingredient bagel with a bit of butter-- 5 point breakfast |
|
Salad, chicken tenderloins, and squash casserole-- 9 point dinner |
|
Salad, 5 spinach ravioli, squash/zucchini, sauce, and a small slice of garlic bread (not sure the point amount but I'm sure it was higher than normal) |
|
Homemade pizza with 2 ingredient dough-- 8 points |
|
Veggies, peaches, and tuna on a 2 ingredient bagel-- 4 point lunch |
|
An Italian salad I ordered at a local restaurant; the dressing and mozzarella (most of which I didn't eat) are the only points from that meal |
|
Salad with tuna and croutons-- 4 points |
|
Salad with a scoop of homemade pasta salad and a couple of croutons-- 6 points |
|
Assorted veggies, eggs, and 2 slices toast with butter-- 6 points |
|
Salad with fruit, nuts, croutons, and raisins-- 5 points. |
While I tend to only share photos of my healthy meals (mostly to motivate myself and give myself ideas when I look back at old WW posts) I can assure you that all my meals haven't been the healthiest with vacations, cookouts, birthdays, etc.

I still am trying really hard to stick to a mostly plant based diet and minimize processed foods. Our CSA box of veggies each week is really helping with healthy eating and non-processed since I am determined not to throw away anything!
|
Mixed CSA veggies with 1/2 cup whole wheat pasta-- just 2 or 3 points! |
I really need to get back to daily exercise and hiking but our heatwave and my aching back have made that so hard this month. My back has been hurting ever since I pulled a muscle on our Acadia Maine trip and while I'm still lightly exercising and walking it's no where near the extent of where I would like to be.
I guess I should be grateful my weight isn't going up! And I am not ready to give up either. I am determined to redouble my efforts.
Have you been making any healthful strides? How is your wellness journey going?
Linking up with: Spread the Kindness,
I hope your back stops hurting you soon. I do know what an injury is like and how you can go from being super active to super not active. Love all the veggies in your dishes- as I am slowing getting some produce from the garden, it´s the best encouragement to eat those healthy greens and reds!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It is slowly getting better but I am definitely babying it still so I don't re-hurt it (again!). Our CSA box of veggies each week is definitely helping me eat healthier and fresher.
DeleteAlways love seeing your meals. You do a fabulous job of loading your meals with fresh veggies and fruit which is the healthiest thing you can do!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI think you're doing great! I know two people who have totally cut out sugar and it just seems so sad to me. It also conflicts with me wanting to be more natural. I don't think it's better to use artificial sweeteners.
ReplyDeleteAre you counting your protein? Do you like cottage cheese? The brand Good Culture is really yummy with some sliced tomatoes. I also use it on top of my pizza bowls and in place of ricotta. I have a zucchini lasagna bowl on my blog, too.
https://coffeeandcocktailsatthecasa.com/2024/02/13/low-carb-pizza-bowls/ - I don't think I was adding the cottage cheese yet when I posted this.

I am trying to get back into watching my points, but I've struggled.
This link up will be really nice! Thanks!
I definitely do not believe in swapping out sugar with artificial sweeteners; in fact I think they are probably worse for us in the long run since our bodies do not know what they are. I try not to eat much diary at all since my eczema flares up dramatically when I do but I do like cottage cheese (in any brand!). As you can tell I did just awful at limiting dairy this month! But it's hard because it is an easy source of protein when there are so few of them I like!
DeleteYou're doing great! I love all the color and variety in your meals. I'm a bit older than you but will say weight loss in this season is extremely challenging for me. Once I hit menopause my metabolism slowed down to a ridiculous level. I can't do what I always did and need to do a lot more exercise than a few years ago. But of course there's that aching back and my achilles, etc. so more challenging too. I'm sure I should cut out sugar but that doesn't sound fun lol.
ReplyDeleteTell me about it; aging is a killer on our metabolism! Though we can only guess when I'll fully be IN menopause since I had my hysterectomy... I definitely feel like my body is much less forgiving about what I eat and how much I need to move. I hesitate with cutting out sugar because I feel like I'd never get to participate in parties and joy again! LOL. BUT, I have had months we're I've managed to cut way, way back and I do feel so much better without those cravings.
DeleteMy doctor has said it's good when I stay steady...I have no idea how much I weigh right now but it can't be good.
ReplyDeleteMy doc. says maintenance is good too but man, I really I could maintain that around the 155-160 mark! LOL.
DeleteWhen I came back from Georgia early June, I was at my lightest: mostly for eating healthier foods and also dealing with about 10 days of stomach issues. I am now probably back up 10 lbs and need to get serious with moving every day again (only been running twice a week and not much walking) and coming up with healthier lunches. Thanks for the inspiration. I need to put a couple things on my grocery list! Like tuna for example!

Oh no; 10 days of stomach issues is not fun! I was definitely my lowest the year I was waiting for surgery because I was in a whole lot of pain and had lost my appetite. BUT, I'd rather be healthy and wishing I could shed a few excess pounds for sure!
DeleteYour meals always look yummy. I think I would probably overeat (too large of portions) if I had such delicious looking food:) I'm not the greatest cook/preparer of pretty looking plates....maybe I should work that to my advantage - lol!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteYay on your weight loss. Every little bit helps. I have been weighing almost 3 pounds more than I was and can't seem to get the scale to budge. I am tracking but eating beyond my points. There you go!! But exercising a lot - for me - so I guess I need to be thankful my weight isn't going up. Continuing to eat your yogurt breakfast and loving it. Could you come cook for me? All of these meals look positively delish. Hope you back is soon feeling better and will allow you to get back to exercising more. XO
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteIt is discouraging, but you are definitely eating healthy foods. I think any loss is a good thing!

Thank you!
DeleteYou do such an amazing job of getting your fruits and veggies in every day. Wish I could say the same, lol.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI just listened to an interesting discussion about menopausal age women and their weight. And a couple of the things that really stuck out to me are the fact that limiting our calories isn't helpful.
ReplyDeleteBut increasing our protein and starting off the day with a really good protein-rich meal is key.
Xoxo
Jodie
I'll have to keep that in mind; I know I don't do the greatest with eating enough proteins because there are so few protein sources I really enjoy!
DeleteI'm so glad that you are doing this!!! I've taken the time to write and link up and I hope that you keep this up! Accountability is awesome for progress! I love the sound of your meal plans, yum! I might steal some for next week!
ReplyDeleteSteal away! That's the whole fun and point of the link up. I get so sick of eating the same things all the time. I am so glad you linked up!
DeleteI lost 25 pounds from last Sept to Dec and have managed to maintain 22 lbs. I did it by loads of protein and veggies and very very few carbs. I never felt l like I was deprived but sugar didn't happen much at all. I had 10 more to go and sadly still do!! Keep working away at it. Bernie
ReplyDeleteI've needed to do a LOT of work on myself to enjoy what I can eat and not get on the scales any more. That was a fixation for decades. I am doing well. I also want to just stay that way. Take care, Denyse
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
DeleteYou are doing so great with your food. Keep at it, Joanne! I hope your back feels better soon so you can go on those beautiful hikes again.
ReplyDelete-Soma
Thank you!
DeleteI so enjoy looking at your healthy foods, Joanne, as it gives me ideas for my own meals. Weight is a tricky thing. I have found it can give me useful information if I don't give it too much importance and consider it in combination with other health metrics. My recent focus has been on reducing highly processed foods and saturated fat. It's a journey for sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Us too we try to eat minimally processed foods and "healthy" fats as much as possible.
DeleteI'm so sorry you're having so much trouble with your back. I hope it heals soon so you can get back out there! It's the worst being immobile due to injury or illness!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteHi Joanne, those photos of your meals look so yum! Losing weight gets so much harder as we get older doesn't it? It seems we need to barely eat anything in order to see some weight shift! I need to lose some too as I've been comfort snacking due to the stress I've been under lately. For me I have to start by cutting out the snacking (so hard in winter) and all meals must have protein, low carbs and I try to cut processed foods. Exercise is good for my brain and helps to tone the body up but I find that what I eat determines my weight. Hang in there - you're doing great! Hope your back gets better soon too! Thanks for linking up with #WWWhimsy xo
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOh, my. Your meals look delicious! I am also doing the WW but my meals do not even match yours. I have gone a bit on the wayside and need to get back on track.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteGood for you! I don't seem to be losing eweight even tho I've cut out alcohol AND dropped a lot of carbs...seems unfair! Mine's a menopause thing so I think the hormones are stronger than the food intake...yikes!
ReplyDeleteThat is so frustrating! Mine could be a menopausal thing too; having had a hysterectomy several years ago my doctors have warned me there will be no real way to tell. I just know it's much harder now than it was 5 or 6 years ago!
DeleteI can't comment on the other linked post as I get a 404 error - sorry!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I do too; but thanks for trying!
