Styling Shorts with Ageless Style

It's the third Thursday of the month and time for another ageless style challenge.  This month Leslie picked shorts and alternatives to shorts. 

 I tend to wear shorts a lot; I often pair them with flowy blouses and tops for a nice cool outfit to beat the summer heat. 

This first photo is from the only time I've worn shorts this year..

If I'm not wearing shorts I am usually wearing gauzy jumpsuits






Or linen pants with a cute halter top


And on rare occasions I may even wear a dress. 


Basically I just love summer clothes!

    I have worn shorts every day since April 1 (the date of my surgery)! I could wear skirts or dresses and I have for occasions when out of the house, but I change back into shorts when I am home. Of course when my boot comes off, it will be crazy hot outside so I will want to wear pants only because I will be able to, lol. Enough of my yammering- your outfits are cute. I like that scalloped edge blue top. Also love linen anything- your pants are pretty and comfortable.

      I would have frozen if I had to wear short then! LOL. It is pretty warm this week so I've finally broken out the shorts these past couple of days.

    Such cute short outfits and alternatives. Would you believe I don't own a jumpsuit? I owned a jumpsuit short set once, but I didn't like the "bathroom issue" so I donated it.

    The couple times I wore shorts this summer so far, I have regretted it with sticking to my car and sweating like crazy. Now if I was at the beach or the lake, it would be a different story. So I am wearing my flowy pants and maxis right now, which is good: everything needs a turn in my closet!

      Definitely! I find I am reaching more for dresses, skirts, flowy pants this summer than last summer when I think I wore shorts nearly every day.

    I've been wearing bermuda shorts this summer for the first time ever! They're comfortable and modest and, most importantly, cool in this Louisiana heat. I don't own a jumpsuit or romper, either, but they look really good on you, especially that blue polka dot one!

      I used to wear a lot of Bermuda shorts too but went to shorter shorts just a couple years ago-- not even really sure why but they are my new "go to" favorite length... for now. :)

      I do that a lot in fall/winter but have been trying to add more color into my wardrobe-- especially in summer.

      We had a heatwave this week; it was triple digits yesterday but I still didn't end up wearing shorts because we made sure to stay in the air conditioning!

    I don't wear shorts as I am not confident about my legs, the closest I come is cropped leggings.

    Hey cutie pie!! Guess what I had for breakfast?? Yogurt and fruit, sitting outside with a view of my pool rather than your beautiful lake view.
    Love your looks. You wear shorts so well and I hope you will continue to style and wear them for years to come. I need to try pairing my denim shorts with kimonos or flowy tops like you are doing here. I really like the way that looks and that would be a cooler option for our intenese summer heat.
    Your jumpsuits are sure cute, too. Love the first one. It 'reads' like a maxi dress. So flirty and fun.

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Making Gift Card and Money Holders Using Scrapbooking and Cardmaking Supples

I don't tend to keep a lot of crafting supplies on hand so when I saw this month's de-stash challenge I wasn't sure what I was going to make.  I finally realized that with so many of my Christmas gifts being cash and gift cards this year that I needed to make up some fun paper crafting/ creative ways to gift them.   I still want my nieces and nephews to have something to open so I pulled out my papers and stamps and made up some cute little money/gift card holders. They were much easier to make than I thought.  The first one I worked on was to hold some oversized Nintendo gift cards.  I made a standard sized card and folded down one corner of the card front.  Then I ran my double sided tape along the bottom an 1/2 way up the side creating a cute little pocket.  Finally I added some cute embellishments and ribbons.   Voila! Making a Sugar Cookie "Gingerbread" House

 Alec really wanted to try making his own gingerbread house this year without using a premade kit.  We talked about how we never really eat the house since they don't taste very good.  Years ago we gave up on the frosting that comes in the kit and began making our own so we thought perhaps we should try making our our house too. Only problem is that no one in the house likes gingerbread.  We talked about trying to make the house using a sugar cookie recipe.  Alec was so excited at that idea since he just LOVES sugar cookies.   He found a recipe online for a simple sugar cookie recipe and mixed up the dough.  He rolled it out an cut it to the size of our cookie sheets-- we had read that it's easiest to cut the house pieces out after the dough has been baked and is still warm and soft because then you don't have to worry about any of the pieces losing their shape while baking.
