My 10 Favorite Amazon Purchases of January

I've really been trying to cut back on our Amazon spending but I think I failed this month.  On top of the household things like cleaning products, Ziploc bags, trash bags, toilet paper, etc. I found myself turning to Amazon quite a bit for some out of the ordinary things and then ended up treating myself to a few belated Christmas gifts using some gift cards I had.

*none of these are affiliate links but just in case you want to check them out for yourself I've included links*

The bowls that came with our kitchen set were all chipped and I've been putting off replacing them because I didn't want to have to replace all the plates too.  Well, Ian found these bowls on Amazon and they are a pretty close match so I ordered them and we are really liking them!

Alec is presenting an entire Greek menu at school later this month and needed some decorative glass cups to hold his panna cotta.  He picked out this set

My favorite shampoo and conditioner has not been available for quite some time and I had used this Maui Moisture set that I found at our grocery store and I just loved it but it's nearly 1/2 the price on Amazon so I added it to my subscribe and save orders.

My body wash changed a bit and I no longer enjoy the smell of the one I've been using so I ordered these to try-- they smell amazing!

I had some gift cards and bought myself these pretty sparkly barrettes/hair clips. They are larger than I thought but I love them.

I "needed" a maxi skirt for a fashion post coming up this month and I found this lovely denim one.  I'm actually excited to wear it; it fits great.

I really wanted to wear this 2-piece set on the plane for our trip but it didn't come in until we came home. I was going to return it but it really is quite comfy and cute.

My fuzzy socks from last winter got a hole in them so I ordered this 3 pack and they are oh so cozy!

Lastly, I bought myself this calligraphy book hoping to entice myself to break out the calligraphy set I got LAST Christmas and have only used once!

Evan's dermatologist recommended he slather his hands with Vaseline at night and then cover them with some cotton gloves. We bought him this set in medium and he saw immediate results with his eczema.  I went right back and ordered them in a large for Alec to try.

  2. The bowls are really pretty and good on your for having another go at calligraphy - I did some for a while and have lost my momentum.... but I hope to get back to it before too much longer. I never buy things with Amazon - it's more an American pastime, but I can see the value in it if items are cheaper than in the stores.

    1. We don't have a whole lot of stores around us (I drive nearly 30 minutes just to grocery shop) so when I have already checked 2 different stores for things like Evan's gloves I usually give up and just go to Amazon. But, yeah Amazon really has become second nature to me and I do see how that's more of an American thing but their free shipping right to my door makes it hard to beat.

  5. The bowls are beautiful! And I should get Dave some gloves to wear at night because his hands get so bad in winter.

    1. Yes! I don't know why it took me so long to get them gloves; I had a girlfriend that used to wear them in winter because her fingers would crack and bleed and she swore by them.

  8. I have the feeling we're all going to be featuring denim maxi skirts this month based on all the comments/blog posts I've been reading. That's ok, as they are super trending right now. The vaseline/white glove trick really works! And I bought a lot on Amazon this month too: mostly vitamins and cookbooks.

  15. You got some great finds here! I may have to give that shampoo/conditioner a try. Not unhappy with my current one but it's not specifically for curly/wavy hair so I'm interested to see how my naturally wavy hair will do with this.
I'm not one to wear a sweatsuit but it looks really nice on you.

    1. I really only wear them around the house usually; and it worked out well that the set didn't arrive in time since I used that cardigan I wore on the plane nearly every night for dinner over my dresses/outfits to combat the cold A/C.

  23. I love the pannacotta glass cups, they would look lovely for serving. I've only seen the white cups but I prefer these clear glass ones. You made the right decision not to send your pink two-piece back. It looks great on you!
