Share 4 Somethings for September

Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month the time for the Share 4 Somethings link up with Jennifer.  I really enjoy this cute little wrap up of the month even if it might overlap a bit with my What's Up Wednesday posts.  I hope you all don't mind too much!

As always we're looking at what we Loved, Learned, Read, and Ate this month.

Loved-- Celebrating Evan's 16th birthday, getting to eat lunch at Alec's school, all our lovely hikes!

Learned--I learned far more than I ever wanted to about all of CT's driving laws; in helping Evan prep for his learner's permit test we read the entire manual cover to cover together and while I did know the general idea of most of it I definitely learned a few things along the way too. But at least he passed his test and we can now teach him to drive on the actual road.

Read-- Even with school starting, I managed to read 14 books this month!  All were pretty darn good too.  I'm pretty sure I broke my reading record this year and am so happy that so many of them were fabulous books.

Ate- All the things. We've actually eaten out quite a bit this month and had far too many ice cream and sugary treats.

chicken and veggies with pasta in a wine sauce

Homemade zucchini bread!

Lots of salads

1/2 apple with peanut butter and shredded coconut

Easy chicken parmesan

Chicken sandwich on rye

Shrimp stir-fry

oven baked chicken cacciatore

Vegetable flat bread with salad

chocolate/caramel cheesecake

  12. What a lovely September you had and you are certainly powering through the reading list. I always think photos tell us so much and I thoroughly enjoyed looking at your photos of your boys and the food. Now you know you are alive as a parent when your child gets their driver's licence. Thanks for linking up at #WBOYC and have a lovely October x

  14. I'm just curious about who baked Evan's birthday cake! My two youngest kids took driver's ed classes from a private company after the school quit doing it. It was so nice to have someone else do that part of it. Have a wonderful weekend, Joanne!

    1. It's actually a no-bake cheesecake and I have a blog post with the recipe coming up early next month. I had to make it since Alec was busy at work and school that week. Our schools have never taught driver's ed (that I know of) but I have signed him up to take lessons with a local driving school. It's a very long 4-6 month process in our state for 16 & 17 year old to get their actual driver's licenses.

  28. I remember the days of teaching my daughter to drive a stick when she 1st started driving. Her 1st car was a stick shift. Her driving age kids are envious of their Mom knowing how to drive a stick. LOL!!!

    1. My first car was a stick shift as well and I remember teaching MYSELF to drive it... I had some very stressful commutes to and from college. I am so thankful that I don't have to teach that on top of just basic driving.

I may have some down time...ISn't it amazing what we forget and what we learn when we're helping our kids...haha. WOW....awesome on the reading. That ice cream looks amazing!
