Currently in September
It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for the Currently series with Jennifer. In September we'll be sharing what we're currently loving, seeing, dreaming, eating, and using to decorate.
loving-- Alec was kind enough to try and recreate his Freshman first day photo on his first day of Senior year (oddly he looks taller in these photos Freshman year but if you look at the window casing you see he grew quite a bit despite starting high school at over 6 feet).
seeing-- I'm torn between being so excited and yet so sad that I'm already seeing the leaves turning color. I love fall and these crisp days with blue skies and sun are fabulous but I'm also sad that summer is ending.
dreaming-- I'm pretty much always dreaming of sandy beaches, palm trees, and vacation life. :)
eating-- Lots of fresh fruits and veggies with the occasional sweet treat thrown in.
using to decorate-- Paint! My husband and I have been working on repainting our shed and then I started repainting the exterior doors (and then decided to paint the inside of the exterior doors too and I am loving that unexpected pop of color after 20+ years of having the same doors). They used to be a royal blue color and while I loved them I can not get over how good the plum looks.
same color but the lighting makes it look so different |
Linking up with: Traffic Jam reboot,
I like the re- created picture from freshman year to senior! I just got Alyssa's senior pictures back and I marveled at how much she changed from freshman to senior year. Your son is handsome and tall! I hope his senior year is a great one. Our front door used to be plum color! We painted it black to match our shutters and we like the look but we liked it when it was plum.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThat plum color door is gorgeous! I love the inside as well, seeing that color in your home. That's a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you; I must give credit to my sons though as I had only planned to paint the outside.
DeleteYour boys are very handsome. I always dream of palm trees and sandy beaches. My dream trip is to the Maldives or Bora Bora. Love your pretty door!

Yes! I would love to visit Bora Bora! Thank you.
DeleteLove that door color! Wishing Alec an amazing year :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYour door looks great! Is Alec's hair dyed or is that the lighting?
ReplyDeleteIt's dyed; he has been having lots of fun trying out all sorts of colors for his hair since one of his best friends is in hair dressing. He's also played around with a few fake/press on piercings that has gotten quite the comments from our family (my husband included!).
DeleteThe plum color looks great, especially with the plant that coordinates so well. Love the recreated photo, such a handsome young man.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWe were just talking last night about how dark it is at 8:30 now. I love fall, it's my favorite, but I will definitely miss the longer daylight. Your door is pretty!
ReplyDeleteYes, I will definitely miss those long sunny days.
Deletelove the door. you salad looks delicious
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThat plum color looks so pretty! Happy back to school. I feel the same way about end of summer/excited for fall!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThe plum color on the door looks fabulous, it goes great with the color of your brick!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought! I honestly just picked up a paint chip at the store and had the paint made without bringing it home to check but I was really impressed with how well the color tied everything together.
DeleteJoanne, good luck with back to school for your kids. I feel the same way about fall. I will miss the summer but I can’t wait for cool weather to return! I love the color you painted the door. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Thank you!
DeleteOh yes, you can see how much Alec has grown. I hope he has a good Senior year.
ReplyDeleteIt's feeling more like summer here this past week than it's felt over the last couple of months. I want the summer to last a little bit longer but I do love the to see the leaves changing colour.
Your door does look so pretty. I love the colour.
Yes, we are having a major heatwave this week and everyone is talking about how summer FINALLY found us! LOL.
DeleteOh I love the fall colors and your front door paint does look so good. Isn't it crazy how much of a difference paint makes?
ReplyDeleteYes! I think that's why I love to paint so much; one little can/color can make a huge impact.
DeleteWow! He started high school at 6 feet! How tall is he now? Lucky you...you have someone to always reach the high stuff! I love the color of your front door. We have to stick with this boring greige color because of the HOA and being a condo. I'm going to see if I can't get that changed because your front door says so much about you, right?
ReplyDeletehttps://marshainthemiddle.com/
He's a good 6' 2"/ 6' 3" depending on who is measuring him at the doctor's office. Both my oldest sons are really tall; I put them in charge of changing out the smoke detector batteries years ago and basically reach anything high for me.
DeleteI love how you painted the inside of the door too. I keep meaning to do that, but I've been so lazy,

Thank you! I figured while I had the paint out and the doorknobs off it was the perfect time.
DeleteThat is so cool that you did a recreation photo for freshman and senior year! He's changed so much!
ReplyDeleteHe really has!
DeleteI also love fall but lament the shorter days. I've also been painting up a storm. Your plum plays well with the brick and your plant . Bernie
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteSenior year is a very big deal, your son is very handsome! Love the color on your front door, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Thank you!
DeleteThat shrimp salad looks delicious! Your breakfast looks almost identical to mine! I love this fruit season. I'm on a peach kick now. Beautiful plum and handsome son. What smiles you must be having lately!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love the plum colored doors inside and out!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's such a fun pop of color.
DeleteOh my gosh, that plum is beautiful! Normally, I don't love purple, but that's just lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge purple person either but I just knew it would go so perfectly with the green and the brick.
DeleteLove the door!! How is Alec a senior!?
ReplyDeleteRight?! I feel like high school just started; boy that time really flew by.
DeleteOh I really like the change of colour for the door. Sorry it's getting gloomy over there for you...we are, sadly, likely to be getting a very hot Summer (read: bushfires likely) so I wish we could just have a middle ground with weather. Thanks so much for linking up, I hope to see you next week too. Denyse.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's a really nice refresh. Our weather has been all over the place all summer long-- hot and miserable one week, cool/crisp weather another, often a week of rain between the two. This week most schools had 1/2 days with an unexpected heatwave and next week is looking quite rainy. I try to just go with the flow and be thankful that natural disasters don't tend to hit us often here in CT (yet, anyway!).
DeleteThe doors look great! The magic of paint...it can change everything! And you're occasional sweet treat looks ah.maz.ing!!
ReplyDeleteIt really can! That is my favorite flavor from our local shop-- they call it cookie jar and it's filled with M&M's, cookie pieces, chocolate chunks, etc.
DeleteHow fun to have the recreation of the first day of school photo. My daughter was very cooperative with first day of school photos and I did most of her homeschool first day photos with her sitting on the sofa, and three of her four college first day photos on our front porch. I do like the plum color for your door - it's different!
ReplyDeleteI never ever thought of first day of school phots when we were homeschooling! I barely think of them when they actually get dressed and go to school.
DeleteThat ice cream cone looks divine! And I love a good milestone photo recreation, haha!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLove Alec's hair color. The food you eat always looks so delicious. Blessings, Dawn
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteWhat a great currently Joanne!
ReplyDeleteVisiting today from Encouraging Hearts & Home #30&31
Thank you!
DeleteOh I love the colour of the front door! We just ordered a new front door and couldn't decide between heritage blue and mulberry. We went with blue but now seeing your door wished we got the purple. It's really lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was a bit startling at first but I just love it so much. I am usually all about blue and have had a blue door for over 20 years so it was quite the change but it works so well.
DeleteThe plum door is beautiful! I love that shade!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
