Share 4 Somethings in August
Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month the time for the Share 4 Somethings link up with Jennifer. I really enjoy this cute little wrap up of the month even if it might overlap a bit with my What's Up Wednesday posts. I hope you all don't mind too much!
As always we're looking at what we Loved, Learned, Read, and Ate this month.
Loved-- Seeing my family! My aunt drove up with her husband from North Carolina and her brother drove up from Florida so we had a big family cookout with my mom and my brother and his family. It was so wonderful to see everyone and we had such beautiful weather too. (Though I am cracking up seeing all these serious faces in my photos! LOL- I swear we all had a fabulous time!).
Learned-- We learned about a "new" Wildlife Sanctuary not that far from us called Norcross and we went to check it out my mom, my aunt, and my aunt's husband. It was such a lovely area with more than 2 miles of hiking trails.
Read-- I read so many great books this month! I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite but did stress myself out when I had more than 15 books checked out from the library at one time (all my requests suddenly became available all at once!)
Ate-- Lots of fresh fruit, veggies, and eggs were eaten this month.
Linking up with: Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot, Spread the Kindness, Final Fridays,
How fun to have a big group of family get together- especially given the distance, you probably don't see some of your extended family too much. Good job on all of the reading this month! Have a great weekend ;).
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky enough to see them about once a year these past few years. It blows my mind that my uncle makes that drive by himself in just 2 days.
DeleteGetting together with family is the best! Love all these nature pics too.

It really is! We were all missing my sisters and their families though.
DeleteOh how wonderful to get together with family. Yummmmm, as always the food looks delish. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteSo glad you enjoyed so much fun family time! Your meals all look amazing as usual too!
ReplyDeleteFun to have family visit! We have family here now!
ReplyDeleteOh FUN! I hope you have a wonderful time.
DeleteGetting together and fun at the lake - sounds pretty perfect! Your guys do look like they take their funny quite seriously - ha!! What did you think of the "I Quit Sugar" book? That was a lot of reading in one month:)
ReplyDeleteI liked it and thought she brought up a lot of great points about the role sugar plays in our foods & diet but honestly I just can not ever see myself giving it up. I found most of the recipes to be a bit too far out there to get anyone else in my house to even try.
DeleteYour family event by the lake seem so nice. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHaha, I'll bet they were tired. But those are the best times right, spending with friends and family.
ReplyDeleteProbably! I was trying so hard to not take any of those awkward eating/ mouth full photos that I never even noticed that hardly anyone was smiling later on!
DeleteThere's nothing better than family time! Love all those healthy (delicious looking!) meals, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have definitely been feeling better with those healthy meals. Vacations and eating out are lots of fun but then I'm always so happy to get back to eating "normally."
DeleteLooks like a great August!
ReplyDeleteIt really was!
DeleteHow lovely to get family all together. And that Very Wong book looks great!! #WeekendCoffeeShare
ReplyDeleteThat Vera Wong book was so cute! I loved it.
DeleteAlso back for #ShareFourSomethings
DeleteOh, that must have been great to see your family and I'm sure they enjoyed a little cooler weather! The scenery and healthy food all looks good. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThey were loving the cooler weather!
DeleteI hate it when all my requests at the library are ready at once, LOL. Luckily, I can usually renew them.
ReplyDeleteOXOX
Jodie
Thankfully I can too but I still won't get through all dozen or so.
DeleteI leave here inspired by your healthy menu, Joanne. And I love a good read while I'm eating, too. Such lovely, quiet company when no one else is around.
ReplyDeleteSee you tomorrow at 4 Somethings, girl!
Aw thank you!
DeleteYou take the best photos of your food! So inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWhat a joy it is to spend time with family!
ReplyDeleteAs always, the food looks amazing 😋
Hugs and blessings, Joanne
Thank you so much!
DeleteSuch a beautiful month! Time with family is such a blessing, and all that wonderful food!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI'm so glad you were able to enjoy some family time, even if there were serious captures involved ;-) Your photos of the refuge are absolutely stunning, thanks for taking us along!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! It was a beautiful place and so peaceful.
DeleteHow great to have that family time! I always panic a little when my library holds become available in bunches. o-O Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYes, I do too! I'm going to have to return a good or 4 or 5 of them unread too since I am quickly running out of time and renewals.
DeleteI'm glad you enjoyed your family gathering. The wildlife sanctuary looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIt looks like a great August, and I love the photos from the Wildlife Sanctuary!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Delete15 books out at one time?! That would definitely be stressful! It's nice to be able to spend time with family. August just flew by!
ReplyDeleteIt sure did fly by! I thought it was going to be such a long and boring month too.
DeleteGreat pictures and loving the book montage for August
ReplyDeleteThank you! I read some really fabulous books.
DeleteSounds like a fun month!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was!
DeleteHow nice to have the wildlife sanctuary nearby! It looks a lovely place.
ReplyDeleteThe expressions did make me smile.Glad you all had a great time together. :)
Thank you!
DeleteHow lovely that you could spend some family time together - I think that's my most favourite thing in the whole world! Loved all your healthy eating, and you've been very prolific in your reading too.
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful; especially since we tend to only seem them once a year if we're lucky!
DeleteFamily get togethers seem even more important these days. What did you think of the Eat Right 4 Your Type book?
ReplyDeletehttps://marshainthemiddle.com/
Well, I don't know my blood type so I can't say I got a whole lot out of the book but I did find the whys behind it quite interesting.
DeleteThank you for your weekend coffee share. Sounds like you had a great August with family, discovery of hiking trails, good books and yummy foods.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting.
DeleteWhy, oh why, do men not smile in pictures? LOL. Glad you got some family time and discovered a new place to hike.
ReplyDeleteYou really read a lot! I'm making more time for reading, but I haven't read even half as many books as you did.
Right?! They are all so serious; especially when I take out my camera.
DeleteFood and animals can't be beat. Looks like summer fun was had by all. #MMBC
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHow lovely to spend some time with family. Oh wow! You have read a lot! x
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful to see our family! I hadn't been anticipating that at all since we didn't even know until the end of July that they were coming up.
DeleteI read when I eat too. All my library holds came in at the same time too. I still have 9 that I haven't touched yet, but currently reading an ARC that my review is due for on Thursday. Glad you were able to have a great time with your family visiting.
ReplyDeleteI have 6 that are due back tomorrow that I don't have any renewals left for so I have to decide how badly I want to read them and if it's worth requesting them again or not...
DeleteGreat update. I'm always afraid all my books will come in at once too, or all my audiobooks will become available at teh same time.
ReplyDeleteFunny enough I only request 1 audiobook at a time but don't think anything of requesting dozens of books.
DeleteI love that you got to spend some good quality time with your family! I know everyone enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was wonderful.
DeleteI love your book collage! I enjoyed "The Firekeeper's Daughter" a lot. I hear it's becoming a movie...? I also enjoyed reading Jeannette McCurdy's memoir. I was horrified by what child actors have to go through. I had some classmates who were child actors but they weren't in the industry for too long. It is a major time commitment on the parents' part too. I only know of few who returned to acting as an adult. What are your thoughts on the "I Quit Sugar"? I think I would read it, but I am not sure if I could quit sugar. Maybe I can track to eat no more than 24 grams of added sugar per day.
ReplyDeleteI can not quit sugar! I'd love to but oh my goodness I just love it so much and my not so little baker is always eager for me to try his latest recipe. I am trying to limit my sugar intake as much as I can. I was thinking that The Firekeeper's Daughter would make a great movie. I can't imagine growing up in the spotlight nor wanting my kids to either.
