My Favorite Sports Movies
It's getting harder and harder to not overlap any of my favorite movies as I move from genre to genre so you may find a few repeats. I do try to look through my old posts so make sure I'm mostly picking "new" favorite movies to feature but after awhile I tend to forget. I don't play any sports and never really have but I enjoy sports movies; particularly where I'm rooting for an underdog.
Here are some of my favorites sports movies
1. A League of Their Own
2. The Cutting Edge
3. Cool Runnings
4. The Blind Side
5. Jerry Maguire
6. Tin Cup
7. Remember the Titians
8. Rudy
9. The Mighty Ducks
10. Varsity Blues
11. 80 for Brady
12. Days of Thunder
13. Concussion
14. The Air Up There
15. The Rookie
16. We Are Marshall
17. Ice Princess
18. Miracle
19. Secretariat
20. Radio
My favorite "high school" movies
Linking up with: Spread the Kindness,
I had forgotten about many of these. Will have to check them out again. My kids liked, "She's The Man," a soccer based movie and "Bend it Like Beckham" is another good soccer movie I would recommend.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen either one of those; thanks for the suggestions.
DeleteRudy and Varsity Blues are two of my faves too :)
ReplyDeleteI still hear "I don't want your life" in my head in that accent anytime I even think of football now.
DeleteSo much yes to all of these! I also love Bend it Like Beckham and Rookie of the Year!
ReplyDeleteI have got to check out Bend it Like Beckham I guess; you're the second one to mention it. I nearly added Rookie of the Year to my list but could not think of the name-- I tried Googling baseball movie with broken arm but that didn't' work.
DeleteI'm so glad you published this list! Some of the older ones I love and haven't seen them in years. Thanks for the reminder - I'm adding them to my list of ones to watch over the summer.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteI've loved showing some of these older movies to my son, many of them still hold up! A League of Their Own is probably in my top 5 movies of all time.
ReplyDeleteThey really do! My boys have seen most all of these as well.
DeleteI love Jerry Maguire!
ReplyDeleteIt's a classic.
DeleteI am not a massive fan of sports but I do like sport movies. I think my favourites have to be Cool Runnings and The Mighty Ducks. You have reminded me of quite a few that I had forgotten about.
ReplyDeleteCool Runnings is so funny and I love that it's based on a true story.
DeleteThe only movie I've seen from your list is Jerry McGuire many years ago!
ReplyDeleteOh wow; you should definitely check some of these out.
DeleteMy mom went to see 80 for Brady and loved it. It's one of the few I haven't seen.

I just watched it recently through streaming and really enjoyed it a lot; I knew I would as I really enjoy all those actresses.
DeleteWhat a great list. I haven't seen a few on this list. I went to T.C. Williams High School so Remembering the Titans is close to my heart.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Dawn
How neat!!
DeleteWould you believe the only one of these I've seen is The Mighty Ducks? I'm just not into sports movies or events for that matter!

Oh you have to watch the Cutting Edge at least and Cool Runnings-- those are both so fun!!
DeleteI was THRILLED to see The Cutting Edge on your list, haha! I feel like that movie doesn't get nearly enough attention. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Moira Kelly was supposed to play Kit in A League of Their Own, but then she got hurt filming The Cutting Edge. WILD. I'm partial to D2 myself, but love The Mighty Ducks, Jerry Maguire, A League of Their Own, MIRACLE (totally forgot that even existed!)... so many of these! :D
ReplyDeleteI watched The Cutting Edge so many times I knew it by heart (I still think "toe pick!" every time I see a pair of skates-- said in her voice!).
DeleteI've only seen a couple of these. I'm not a huge sports movie fan!
ReplyDeleteTotally understandable!
DeleteGreat list here. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteSo many great ones here! Gosh, I'd forgotten about a couple. I need to make a list because many of these would be fun to watch with the kiddos!
ReplyDeleteThey definitely would!
