Weigh- In Wednesday: My favorite Yoga and Pilates Workouts

Another Wednesday, another weigh-in Wednesday post.  I'm starting to feel like a broken record here.  I did pretty well with both my eating and my exercise this week though I did fall a bit off the rails around dinner on Saturday.

We had been to a local fire and ice festival (which I'll talk more about on Friday!) and while I didn't eat or drink anything there we ended up staying a bit later than we had planned.  That meant we didn't get home to eat dinner until nearly 7 and I was starving.   I was also really thirsty and instead of drinking a full Yeti cup and waiting a bit I devoured a couple pieces of pizza, 2 mini cupcakes, and a cookie-- my husband and oldest son had been at MSHA training (sort of like OSHA safety training but for people that work in mines-- sand and gravel is considered an open pit mine), anyway, they brought home all sorts of leftovers from class and I just could not resist.  I went waaay over my points that day.

I made sure to eat pretty healthy the rest of the week though:

Teriyaki chicken with butternut squash, green beans and a baked potato with a bit of Brummel and Brown yogurt spread.

Unstuffed cabbage soup; I made enough for dinner and a couple of lunches.

I made sure to get right back on track the next day though and Evan and I even squeezed in a hike late in the day on Sunday.

While I slept in on Monday and enjoyed the fact that neither of the younger two boys had school I did go for a hike with Evan after lunch.

I've actually been working a lot with both yoga and Pilates and strengthening my core.  I have several DVD's I like but have turned more and more to YouTube for a variety of workouts.  Some of my favorite Yoga workouts are:

Some of my favorite Pilates workouts:

I like all of Move with Nicole's Pilates workouts!

  1. Your meals look so good! Congrats for getting back on track after eating more than you had intended one day. I think a lot of people, (ahem, me sometimes!) throw in the towel after a set back. But you're staying the course which is wonderful.

  3. I wonder if I should do YouTube workouts on the days I don't go to the gym.

  4. The Teriyaki chicken looks so yummy! The Tension Yoga workout looks like something I might enjoy. Thanks for sharing all these! I am down 1 pound today but I weigh in on Mondays so I am focusing on continuing to do what I've been doing. The weekends can be hard and so easy to fall off plan. Thank you for the regular inspiration!

    1. Good for you!! I find weekends incredibly difficult too; which is why I picked my weigh-in day to be Fridays! LOL.

  5. Those meals look delish. I much prefer Pilates to yoga. Yoga is too quiet and still for me...which I know is the point. haha

    1. I much prefer Pilates too but know that the quiet of yoga is probably something I do need (even though I am often thinking of my to do list and thinking "hurry up!" as I hold a pose).

  6. I love Yoga with Adriene! I'd like to start incorporating more Pilates workouts so I'll have to check some of these out!

    1. I find Pilates really works more on my core and my muscles whereas I rely on yoga more for stretching and stress relief.

  7. I always forget about yoga videos! They do help me feeling so good afterwards, I'll have to check some of those out!

  8. Our family likes unstuffed cabbage soup too. And I think you need to look at the long-term progress rather than short term increments. Your patterns are healthier and that should be celebrated.
