Laundry Room Reorganization
One of my goals this years was to tackle our laundry room and come up with a better system for storing all our cleaning supplies.
I bought some bins just like the ones I used in our pantry re-do of 2020 and set to work.
Here's what it looked like before I started:
I had debated about repainting the room but ultimately decided it wasn't worth my time since I do like the color and it's only the laundry room.
I cleared everything out of the room that I could (so no the washer, dryer, shelving unit/system, or hand vac and it's attached wall charger).
Then I cleaned the walls and the shelves and put on some of these shelf liners. I bought a few packages on Amazon years ago and as I tackle each room of the house I've been putting them on. They're a huge help with the wire shelving units since nothing falls into the cracks anymore.
I had these new bins I purchased and began grouping like items together: All the laundry cleaning supplies in one bin, all the rags in another, our "extra" cleaning supplies into one bin, the mop head pads in another.
The larger items were put back in: I started with our laundry baskets, iron, and my cleaning caddy since those have to go on the shelf and then added in the gray bins where they made sense. The laundry supplies over the washer dryer, the extra cleaning supplies tucked into the back corner since we rarely need to reach them.
It looks so great! Our laundry room is painted a very similar color. It's been that way for years and I, too, sometimes debate painting it a different color but then I realize how much I like it so why paint it a different color? The bins you added do wonders to the room! Now I want one of those mop holders/ attachments things. Our brooms and mops are just lined up against a wall.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I do still love the color (we actually have two hallways painted that same periwinkle!).
DeleteI love a good laundry room refresh!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIt looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteAwesome job- love those baskets! So function and pretty :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! It really makes me smile every time I walk in there.
DeleteVery nice! My laundry room could probably use a clean up!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLooks great! Isn't it funny how something like organizing a laundry room can make us feel so accomplished? Adulting is weird.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Adulting is weird. LOL
DeleteLooks so good, and I love the labels on each bin!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am a huge fan of labels. It helps all my guys keep everything organized the way I like it. :)
DeleteThis looks so good! We don't have a room, just a hallway, so we don't have a lot of space. Thank goodness for shelving and baskets!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteJoanne, the laundry room looks great and I love those little baskets.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
DeleteAn organized laundry room is so helpful! Mine is always a work in progres...not sure I've ever shown it on here :). You did great.
ReplyDeleteIt really is!
DeleteVery nice organization! I find that bins are always helpful to corral stuff and make it easier to get things off shelves
ReplyDeleteYes! I am a huge fan of bins.
DeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it so frustrating how those jobs we put off for days and weeks and months end up taking very little time?!?!? I do that too and get so annoyed with myself. Also, your laundry room looks great! I love how the baskets hide a lot of the items from sight and they look so uniform.
ReplyDeleteYes! I felt so silly for putting it off for so long.
DeleteLooks great! Good thing you were able to keep the colour you already had for the walls. Everything looks really lovely and organised.

Thank you!
DeleteHow funny you said that about it just being the laundry room. You should have seen how I painted the one in our last house. I haven't gotten around to this one yet, but I will. Maybe because I spend so much time in there, haha.
ReplyDeleteI love how clean it looks now with the baskets!!

Oh I know I feel like the laundry is never ending! Luckily, my boys are pretty good about doing a lot of their own.
DeleteWonderful tips, Joanne! I miss our old laundry room! We had painted it a really deep teal color with white board and batten. I even had a chandelier in there. Our laundry room in the new house is in my walk in closet. That's where I wanted it, but I didn't think to paint it a really striking color. Now, Mike says he doesn't want to mess with moving the appliances. But, I've got two grown sons and a son-in-law so there may still be a chance for a glow up!

That sounds lovely!! Our walls are only painted around our washer/dryer so when you pull out the appliances it is plain back there but no one knows that but us and the workers (and now I guess everyone else!).
DeleteOh i love it when everything is organised like that.
ReplyDeleteThank you! ME too; I am an organizing fiend.
DeleteI would love a whole separate laundry room. Your's looks great. I use those grey bins in my kitchen cupboards to keep things organised.
ReplyDeleteMy husband suggested we cut the walk in closet out of what is now Ian's room and make a laundry room and I am so glad he did! We love having a room where we can shut the door and best of all it's right near all the bedrooms so no carrying laundry up and down stairs.
DeleteI thought it looked tidy before, but it looks even better now. I like your added touch of the cute tags.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteIt looks great. What a nice space to do laundry.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIt looks great, Joanne! It's amazing what a few baskets and bins can do! I started redoing our laundry room last year and I still haven't finished. Haha.
ReplyDeleteIt really is!
