February's 10 on the 10th

I am so excited about this month's 10 on the 10th questions.  Marsha came up with some great ones and look how pretty these graphics are to!

Since each question is broken into two parts it's almost like answering 20 of them but I promise to try and keep my answers pretty short and sweet (if I can!) and add in a few pictures too.

1. Tell us about a color you love to wear. Now, tell us about a color you wouldn't wear for a million dollars! Blue! I love wearing blue in all it's shades... but I absolutely can not stand wearing orange or a bright yellow (though I'm sure I'd reconsider if an actual million dollars were at stake!).

2. Share a food you loved when you were a little kid, but now you wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. Not so much a single food but growing up we used to eat at fast food places often-- McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, etc... and I honestly can not remember the last time we have ever eaten at any fast food place.*  Even on long road trips I either pack food for us to eat or we'll stop at Subway or even a "real" restaurant like Outback for lunch.

*actually I just remembered we tried a Chic-Fil-A on our way home from Florida in 2021 and we were NOT impressed at all.

3. Is there something you loved to wear once upon a time, but now wouldn't wear it to your worst enemy's wedding? Oh boy, there are so many things I loved wearing once upon a time... overalls!  Those were huge when I younger or my vintage red/black/white printed dress that I swear I wore every week in college!  I'm pretty sure that even to my worst enemy's wedding I'd want to look my best so I no matter what I used to love I'd wear something I love now and leave the past in the past.

4. Spill the tea! What is the flower you want your significant other to buy you? What flower had better not grace your doorstep? Oh, I have so many favorite flowers it's hard to pick... roses, hydrangeas, tulips, lilies, lilacs, irises, etc. I love them all.

The only flower I'm not really a fan of is marigolds because I really don't like the color or the smell... but as long as they stay outside on our doorstep I'd be okay with them.

5. When you were a kid, was there a food you absolutely detested, but, now you just can't get enough of it? Oh I was such a horrible, picky eater as a kid that pretty much any fruit or vegetable would make that list now... that and fish, which I used to hate and now love.  I would never have thought I'd grow up to eat salad every day, asparagus at least once a week, and broccoli and zucchini all the time!

6. Share a book you love, reread, or tells other about it. Now, let's hear about a book you wish had never been written. I rarely reread books but I have been known to re-read book in a series before the newest book comes out so I've read Harry Potter countless times (when they were being written/ released and then again with each of my boys), the Stephanie Plum series a few, JD Robb's In Death series I've re-read a few of those books, stuff like that.  I read the Hunger Games and then re-read it with my oldest son when he was in upper middle school.

Gosh I'd hate to say I wish a book had never been written but I am not usually a fan of anything sci-fi.  I try but often just can not finish the book.. things like A Wrinkle In Time and Twenty-Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.

7. Tell us about something your significant other does that makes you go, "awww.." But what does he do that drives you up the wall? I'm pretty lucky that this happens on the regular around here... like last week when my husband was out in the garage cleaning his truck and he cleaned the inside of my vehicle as well without my knowing or asking!  Weirdly though he can be so single minded that he doesn't notice when he's leaving messes behind-- like when he cooks and cleans up his pans but there's food crumbs on the counter and floor.

8. Time to spill the tea again! What piece of clothing do you love and cherish? What piece of clothing will never be in your wardrobe again? I think my currently most cherished piece of clothing is my LL Bean sweatshirt (s!); I loved the first one so much I went back and bought it in 2 more colors.

The original color I bought it in...

another color I purchased..

I don't plan on ever purchasing another pair of joggers. I've tried many styles/ colors/ materials, etc. and I NEVER like them! I think they look so cute on others but the band around my ankle drives me nuts and I always feel sloppy in them (even in the velvet pair I tried!).

9. Share the holiday you would celebrate often, even every day if you could! Which holiday would you never celebrate again if you had the choice? I'm not sure there is any holiday I'd want to celebrate every day... because then it wouldn't be special anymore. But I think I could handle celebrating a smaller/ easy holiday like Valentine's Day or Thanksgiving (my absolute favorite!) a couple times a year.

We don't really celebrate Halloween anymore and I'm just fine with that. I've never been a Halloween fan; not even as a little kid.  That holiday made me so anxious with it's intent to scare.  I am a wimp!

10. Tell us about the modern technological device you'd fight your sister for. But, which device would you toss out the window happily? Um.. maybe my phone, my laptop, or my kindle?  I do use those devices most often and I love them when they're working just fine for me but pretty much every technological device could be happily thrown out the window when I can't get it to do what I'm trying to.  Basically technology and me have a very shaky relationship.

  1. I agree on the joggers. I have one pair, but I feel like regular leggings are much more flattering on me. I wish they worked for me! I do wear the pair I have from time to time, but I agree about the ankle restriction! I also don't like the shirts with thumb holes. Let me be free! He! That was fun to read!

    1. Now see, I LOVE those shirts with arm thumb holes! They help keep my wrists nice and warm when my sleeves ride up underneath my coat and I get this weird gap between coat sleeve and my gloves.

  2. Fun questions and that graphic is cute! I'm sorry that CFA didn't live up to its expectations for you. I have been that way before- thought that something hyped by others would be incredible and then it was just meh. I can't think of any examples (it's early...) but I know that's happened to me. That's great that you eat hardly any fast food. It's unhealthy and has gotten crazy expensive and is a terrible value. Nonetheless, I indulge too often...

  6. Fun Post! And you are so good at royal blue and green and purple, lol! I feel like you could wear about any color. The food looks amazing and I wish you a happy weekend!

  13. You look great in blue! I would definitely say that it's your color. And I'm right there with you on wearing orange. I literally only have one orange thing in my closet and it's a sweatshirt that looks like a pumpkin. I hate orange. Haha.

  14. I used to be a picky eater as a kid too. Heck, I didn't even like pizza. I've really tried to analyze it and I always wonder if it was a control thing!!

    1. It might not have been. Children are actually born with 30,000 taste buds and we lose 1/3 of those by adulthood so most kids are much more sensitive to tastes and textures.

  17. That was so fun to read. Growing up fast food was always a big treat and we rarely ate it. I guess I’ve carried this on to my family because we very rarely eat it now. But I do like it and will sometimes crave a McDonald’s burger although I hardly ever give in to my cravings. The last time I did it was months ago and I ordered a cheese and fries. The cheeseburger came with no cheese and the fries were barely cooked and cold. It was so yuck and probably did me a favour as I haven’t craved McDonald’s since! Your fresh food always looks so delicious. Have a lovely weekend.

  20. This was fun to read! I also ate a lot more fast food growing up than we eat now. Now, it's usually only on long car rides at rest stops. I love flowers and plants of all kinds as well. Especially peonies and orchids! Hope you have a great weekend!

  22. Loved your answers, Joanne! It seems to be unanimous that most people would wear any color for $1 million! I agree about joggers. They look so good on so many people, but they look horrible on me! And, the last one seems to have the same answer for everyone, too! Thanks for linking up!

Hahaha!!! You know I didn't even think about the million dollars because I certainly would wear just about anything for that amount of money! Anne even mentioned there was no time constraint so there's that! You always catch me...my worst enemy wouldn't invite me to her wedding in the first place. And, yes, I have a worst enemy...at least from her standpoint. I don't have the time to hate anyone! My granddaughter decided she was going to read War & Peace when she was around 9 or 10 because the librarian said no one ever checked it out. She carried that monster (size, I mean) around for a week or so before giving up! I'm going to have to read The Warmth of Other Sons. Thanks for the recommendation.

    Thanks for the link party!

  24. I smiled all the way through your post as I agreed with almost everything you said, word for word. And I had a terrible tech day today. Nothing wanted to work - even downloading pictures to my computer, something that is so simple. I walked into the bedroom taking my obstinent phone with me, and as soon as I pressed send to show him it wouldn't - it did.

    1. OH no! I have had that happen too. I was just telling my husband my step counter wasn't pairing with my phone... after trying 6 times. I go to show it and it worked perfectly! I didn't do a single thing differently either.

  27. Yeah, I love yellow as a color, but I have learned over the years that it does not necessarily love me, haha. So that would probably be my choice too (unless I were *actually* getting a million dollars, of course!). It's funny, I've been going through a lot of old high school stuff, and I'm in this buttercup yellow cardigan all.the.time. I had no idea back then what colors are not ideal for pale redheads HA!

  28. Hi Joanne - I loved reading all your answers - I'm a huge JD Robb fan (reading her latest book at this very minute - well I stopped so I could check in with the Weekend Coffee posts!) And I also really don't like Halloween and was really disappointed when Australia adopted it from the US - it's just so dark and unappealing to me.

  31. Fun read, Joanne! My relationship with technology has always been kinda shaky, too! Fast food was a great answer to the food question! I used to love McDonald’s when I was a kid even into my young adulthood years. But like you, I now find all of it so reprehensible...including that barfy Chic-Fil-A. My relationship with chicken has always been kinda shaky as well!

  35. I'm with you on the orange and bright yellow. Not for me. Ditto on the fast food. I've been considering the linen overalls because they look comfy, but I haven't tried them yet. 36. You are so cute. I bet you could even wear marigold yellow/orange and look fabulous in it. I don't care for the smell of marigolds either but when I learned they are used on Dia de los Muertos altars because their scent helps bring the spirits back to earth for the night, I decided I liked them a little better. Love your prized sweatshirt in both colors. Fits you like a glove, girl!!
