My Favorite Romantic Comedy Movies
I had written a post in December about my favorite holiday movies and realized that I never really think about writing about any of my other favorites; which is kind of odd because I LOVE movies! I thought it would be fun to try and share some of my favorite movies by genre once a month or so... starting with Romantic Comedies.
My favorite genre is definitely rom-coms because I love to laugh and I love love stories. While I have enjoyed a few of the new ones my absolute favorites are the older ones. So many of these I've watched so many times that I know them by heart. I am sure I'll be forgetting some of the ones I enjoy (or perhaps I've saved them for another list--- as it seems that so many movies can span a few genres!).
In no particular order here are some of my favorite rom-coms:
1. Notting Hill
2. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
3. Always
4. The Proposal
5. Pretty Woman
6. Sweet Home Alabama
7. Sleepless in Seattle
8. My Best Friend's Wedding
9. Shallow Hal
10. Housesitter
11. One Fine Day.
12. 50 First Dates
13. The Wedding Singer
14. Just Go With It
15. Blended
16. Hitch
17. Failure to Launch
18. The Ugly Truth
19. What Women Want
20. Titanic
21. Coyote ugly
22. Raising Helen
23. Forever Young
24. Sabrina
25. Mrs. Winterbourne
So... which ones are your favorites?
Linking up with:
So many of these are my favourites too! Especially Notting Hill which I only watched recently. I had forgotten all about 'Mrs Winterbourne'. I watched it years ago and loved it. Thanks for reminding me! I love 'Sabrina' too but I think I prefer the Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart version the best even though I've always had a crush on Harrison Ford. Some of my other favourites are 'Maid In Manhattan' and 'When Harry Met Sally'. I could go on and on as I love rom coms.

I LOVE Notting Hill; I even have that one on CD! I've never seen the Audrey Hepburn version of Sabrina; I need to add that to my list. I didn't like When Harry Met Sally but nearly did add Maid in Manhattan to my list!
DeleteYes! And, many of these are always on regular tv or what I call regular tv now which is YouTube tv that we subscribe to. I love How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Tom looked like Matthew McConnaghey (my fave actor) when I met him. Now he looks a bit more like Bill Murray. I know that I have changed, too. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteLOL. That does happen as we age! :)
DeleteOh you are speaking my language! Titanic is my absolute favorite movie of all time AND I saw it 6 times in the theaters and countless times at home after- hope to catch it when it is back in the theaters next month for the anniversary- My Best Friends Wedding is also in my Top 5- nothing better than romance in my book :)
ReplyDeleteMy family laughed at me and over how many times I saw Titanic at the theaters when it came out... anyone who told me they hadn't seen it yet or didn't have anyone to go with, I offered to go again. I'll always remember My Best Friend's Wedding since it was one movie I ended up sitting alone in-- my date (my now husband) and best friend had me go save seats for us all while he parked the car and she got snacks but they couldn't find me in the packed theater!! LOL
DeleteYou have some great recommendations! Thanks for sharing these. I made a note for several of them that I haven't seen, and also to watch some old favs again. I'd forgotten about Raising Helen! That's one of my favorites. Some of my favs are Father of the Bride (1&2), The Wedding Date, You've Got Mail, and New Years Eve. Have a great weekend, Joanne!
ReplyDeleteI'm saving Father of The Bride for a different category since I do LOVE those but they're not really rom-coms to me since no one is meeting and falling in love. I don't like You've Got Mail (I know!-- but I find it rather boring). I did just watch New Year's Eve earlier this month and thought it was super cute though.. and I don't know that I've ever watched The Wedding Date. I'll have to check that one out.
DeleteSo many of these are my favourites too! I especially love Mrs. Winterbourne.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings, Joanne!
Hugs and blessings to you as well, Veronica.
DeleteI have seen most of these (one time, lol!). You know something that bothered me about The Wedding Singer is that it took place in the 80's and Drew Barrymore's hair is so NOT in an 80's style. They could have replicated big hair so easily. Seeing the graphic in your post reminded me of it. Thanks for the recs. I will check out the couple that I have not seen.
ReplyDeleteSo very true! Where is her big 80's hair?! LOL.
DeleteThese are all such good movies. I haven't seen Always in years!
ReplyDeleteThat scene with her in the white dress... ah... I love that.
DeleteWhat a great list! I have not seen Always, so I'm going to have to look for that one! I think I've seen all of the rest of them. Another one of my favorites is Sweet Home Alabama with Reese Witherspoon. I love most of her movies, but that is one I have watched multiple time. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYep, that one is on the list (#6)!
DeleteSo many of my faves are on here! My very favorite romcom of all-time, though, is The Wedding Planner! If you haven't seen it then you need to watch that one, too! I just watched Notting Hill the other day! One of the very best!
ReplyDeleteYep, I like that one too and it nearly made my list.
DeleteSo many of these are classics! My favorite is When Harry Met Sally.
ReplyDeleteNow see, I have never liked that movie despite watching it a few times.
DeleteSuch a great list. We have watched very few of these....now I have some great suggestions! Thanks - here's to a great weekend ahead!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteI love a good rom-com. I think Titanic has to be my all time favourite but I do love all of these movies that you mentioned. x
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI haven't seen all of these which surprises me. I'm surprised that you included Titanic. It is one of my favorites though!!

Yeah, I probably should have saved Titanic for drama and not so much rom-com but it did make me laugh a few times and I just love it so much it's probably going to find its way onto multiple lists. :)
DeleteI adore Notting Hill!
ReplyDeleteIt's so sweet; that is one of the first movies where I actually saw Hugh Grant as an adorable leading man.
DeleteSuch a great film collection. I think my favs aren't on your list, like "Kate & Leopold" or "The Age of Adeline"
ReplyDeleteI vaguely remember watching "Kate & Leopold" but I've never heard of "The Age of Adeline"; I'll have to check that one out.
DeleteThis is such a great list. It's been years since I've watched most of these!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteSuch a great list here! My favorites from these are the Titanic (although I cried my eyes out each time I saw it at the theatre) and Pretty Woman is a long time favorite. Some other favorites of mine not on this list that I absolutely love are Roman Holiday, Blast from the Past , Under the Tuscan Sun and French Kiss.
ReplyDeleteGREAT list!! Just missing When Harry Met Sally!!
ReplyDeleteThat is one Rom-com I've never liked and I don't know why! I try re-watching it every few years to see if it will grow on me.
DeleteWhat a great list! I don't watch many movies, but Notting Hill would be on top of my list, along with Crazy Rich Asians. I was very happy to see Sabrina there too. The soundtrack from that version is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteCrazy Rich Asians was really cute; I liked the movie so much better than the book.
DeleteSo many good ones! Over break, Hadley and I watched a couple of favorites ...You've Got Mail and While You Were sleeping. I remember loving One Fine Day with George Clooney. Now I want to go watch it!
ReplyDeleteI watch While You Were Sleeping every December; I LOVE that movie! But I've never been a fan of You've Got Mail.
DeleteWhat a great idea for a post! My husband will actually watch The Proposal over and over with me, it's one of our favorites! We could both recite that movie word for word! "To the window, to the wall...." lol
ReplyDeleteEvery time I want to watch it I also want to listen to "It Takes Two" by Rob Base too!
DeleteNotting Hill is the movie Dave and I started to fall in love with each other too. "When You Say Nothing At All" was our first dance at our wedding. I LOVE romcoms.
ReplyDeleteOh I love that song! What a great first dance song.
