Wearing Layers with Ageless Style

This month the Ageless style group is showcasing the different ways we wear layers.  I picked this theme since November in New England often has us bundling up on layers!

But.. this year we have had a unseasonably warm introduction to November and I really struggled to pull together some layered looks.

I finally settled on a pair of my favorite distressed jeans an old vest that I got through Stitch fix and while I typically pair vests with fitted shirts underneath I decided to try a more peasant style blouse I had gotten from Old Navy years ago.

It was so comfortable for our morning hike!  Even if I did end up taking the vest off as it got warmer by mid-day.

  1. The blue vest and your cream colored blouse look really good together ;). Early November was so odd for us weather wise, too. It was unseasonably warm. Now it's unseasonably cold...

    1. Thank you! Our weather feels like it got real cold real fast but I do think it's our normal weather... just such a shock from what we were enjoying just last week.

  2. Love the quilted vest. I've had my vest for years and I am thinking I really need a new one. I'd love to replace with something that's warm though, would you say this one is?

    1. Not nearly as warm as my quilted one from the North Face. I think of this navy one as being a more medium to light weight.

  3. I'm not very good at wearing layers. I end up feeling too bulky.

    1. I can have that problem too; which is why I usually wear something fitted underneath. But it's too cold not to embrace layers up here from November through May.

  4. This is a pretty look! I haven't tried a vest with a peasant blouse but now I want to see what I can put together. I love layers!

    1. They really are and yet I rarely think to reach for them. I'm always grabbing a sweater or a cape.

  6. What a nice look! I like the peasant blouse with the vest.

  7. I absolutely love quilted vests, and I think this looks great with the peasant blouse! This fall has been strange weather-wise in Minnesota too - warm to snow seemingly overnight.

    1. That's what our weather has been like too! Though thankfully we haven't had any snow accumulation yet (the one night it started piling up the storm switched to rain by morning). I'm not ready for shoveling just yet.

  8. I always think vests are underrated. They really provide a great deal of warmth (because I'm always surprised when I take them off, and feel so cold) and they are fabulous for styling over anything...even jackets!!

    1. They really do keep me quite warm; and I wouldn't have thought that before I bought my first one just 2 short years ago.

  9. We have had such a warm fall here in Wisconsin too! I love vests! I wear them even in winter. I prefer them over wearing a winter coat if I'm just shopping and running from a warm car to a store.

    1. That is such a great idea! I hate taking on and pulling off my winter coat all winter long whenever I get in or get out of the car.

  10. Vests make such a great layer for fall and even mild winter days! Love this shade of blue! I didn't get to wear my vest yet this year. We too had some warm weather early on in November, then the temperature dropped suddenly overnight and now it's below freezing already with snow on the ground! But you've got me convinced that I WILL wear a vest on Monday when I finish my shopping for Thanksgiving!! It's going to warm up to mid 40s by then too :)

  11. I love your outfit. The colour of your vest looks great with the white shirt and jeans. I’m layering my outfits too at the moment and hoping to peel a few layers off during the day. But it’s been so cold I’ve actually been adding more layers on!
