Fall Bucket List: How I Did

I know fall doesn't officially end until December 21st but each year around this time it starts to FEEL more like winter and I like to put together a Holiday bucket list to make sure we most of each day during this busy season.

With that in mind today is the perfect time to look back on our fall bucket list and see how we did.

1. Enjoy a weekend trip for Ben's birthday-- Check!  We had a fabulous time in Maine

2. Go apple picking-Nope! No one would go with me and picking apples by yourself just didn't sound fun.  We did stop by the orchard weekly for fresh apples, cider, and donuts (on occasion!)

3. Make apple pie, caramel apples,  or enjoy some apple treats like cider donuts-- Check!  We made 3 apple pies (2 frozen for Thanksgiving & Christmas), caramel apples, and a cider donut cake.

4. Take a few "new" hikes-- Double check!! We went on sooo many fall hikes this year.

5. Watch the leaves change colors-- Check! We're so lucky that we have so many beautiful changes right in our own yard even.

6. Make casseroles, soups, and stews--Check!  We made a few pot pies, a couple casseroles, a stew, and several soups.

7. Decorate the house for fall-- check!

8. Buy some mums-- check!

9. Take the boys annual photos-- Check! Columbus day weekend we took all of 20 minutes or so to snap some new photos (for the last time; I was informed!).

One of the ones I'm not using.

10.  Have a fire in the fire pit-- Nope! We had no patio furniture left and little time at home on any weekend so far this fall.

11.  Read a good "fall" book-- Check! I read The Ex Hex, and started this apple orchard mystery series.

12. Watch some "fall" movies like Stepmom or When Harry Met Sally -- Check! I watched Autumn in New York, Runaway Bride, etc.

13. Watch the sunrise-- check!

14. Take the RZR out for a few rides-- 1/2 a check! We only made it out once but we had a nice long (and very muddy!) ride.

15. Cozy up in front of the fireplace-- Not Yet!  But we definitely plan to get it going on Thanksgiving and since that's still fall I'm totally counting it! LOL.

16. Bake some maple glazed cinnamon buns or maple oatmeal cookies-- Check! I made traditional oatmeal cookies and some maple buttercream frosting and made little sandwich cookies.  They were so good.

17. Put together a puzzle or two-- check!

18. Make and listen to a fall themed playlist- Nope!  Not sure why I put this on my list to begin with as I am just not into music enough to curate a playlist.

19. Come up with a fall manicure-- Check I was mostly drawn to dark colored nails this fall.

20. Buy a flannel shirt or shacket for fall-- check!

I'm pretty pleased with how well I did!

  2. Sounds like you checked off most of your fall bucket list! I need to see how I went with my spring bucket list but I have a feeling that I haven't done so well. I will have to blame the weather because it is yet to feel like proper spring over here!!

    1. I hate when the weather isn't cooperating like that (we had a really wet fall one year and every single one of our Friday hikes was canceled!).

  7. Getting the cider and doughnuts is really the whole point of apple picking anyway, right?! Sounds like you've had a great couple of months.

  18. Y'all did great!! We didn't go apple picking this year either. It seems every year when we have fall break that the apples are already picked over, so we haven't gone the last two years.

    1. We can't pick our favorite variety at any of the local orchards so we don't enjoy it nearly as much as just buying a huge bag (or 3) of our favorites; Honey Crisps.
