2022 Disney/ Universal Trip; Day #5 (Animal Kingdom)

Our final day at Disney was Wednesday and we went to check out the Animal Kingdom.  We didn't even get to the park until 9 since we elected to sleep in and skip our extra magic 1/2 hour (where parks are only open to resort guests). 

This photo is actually a lie! At the last minute I swapped out my tank with the pink shirt I wore on park day one.  It was just so comfy! 


Our first stop was in Pandora world. The river ride was beautiful! 




After that we decided to go ride everything else since the wait for the Flight of Passage was long and all the other rides in the park only had a 15-20 minute wait.  We rode Expedition Everest,  Kali River Rapids. walked the jungle trek, and got some snacks (another Mickey bar for me!).

By then we were really hot and looking to get out of the noon day sun. Our plan had been to take a break at the hotel but radar was showing severe thunderstorms from 3 o'clock on. 

Knowing Festival of the Lion King was air conditioned we sat to watch that.

When it was over we went on the safari ride. Despite the heat almost all the animals were out. 






We headed back to pandora, rode Flight of Passage then checked out some animals on the way to Its A Bug Life 3D show.  





By 4:30 we were back on the bus.  We decided to head off property for dinner and we checked out Sweetgrass Steakhouse.   It was delicious! 

We packed our bags,  ate some Disney chocolates (Evan bought this set with his gift card and decided to share with everyone) and headed to bed early.

    Another great day! We rode Flight of Passage for the first time on this last trip and it was just incredible!

    It looks and sounds like you had the best time at Disney. I never thought I would have much interest in the Animal Kingdom but it looks great.

      The Animal Kingdom is really well done with a nice mix of rides, shows, and animals. It also tends to be shadier than the other parks.

    Looks like you are having a great time and enjoying yourself...We took our sons when they were 7 and 9 years old which is now many years ago....We enjoyed it but we went in July which was a mistake....Too Hot!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!

      Yeah, I knew August wasn't going to be fun-- we had originally planned our trip for February of 2020 than pushed it off until May when we had some illness running through the house.. and then with the parks shutting down and my son starting school we really did have to visit during school break. It was HOT but thankfully nowhere near as crowded as earlier in the summer.

      It's so fabulous! Though I do find I have a hard time navigating that park with all it's little windy roads (but that's fine since they stay a bit more shady!).

      Those chocolates were delicious! I love truffles anyway but these were some pretty neat flavors. The Animal Kingdom isn't what I would call my favorite Disney park but it is definitely fun; especially if your kids like animals.

Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Favorite Moments and Memories of 2024

 Oh 2024... it was a challenging year for sure but we had so many fabulous moments and memories. I fully admit that many of my favorite memories this year have no pictures-- like Easter dinner with the family, Alec's acceptance day at JWU, etc. But I am more interested in being present these day then I am in getting the exact perfect photo. In January  we started the year with a big family breakfast out to lunch before my sister and nephews headed home. It's an awful picture but we were all laughing because my mom tried 4 times to get us all in there! Then a week or so later my husband and I did get to go on our cruise (we weren't sure right up until the last minute since my mother in law was in the hospital just before we left).  Roatan Grand Cayman We celebrated Alec's 18th birthday nearly a full month late in  February but he didn't mind. Share 4 Somethings in December

Tomorrow is the last Saturday of the month and time for the Share 4 Somethings link up with Jennifer. We're flying home (if all goes well with our connections we should be home tomorrow morning-- though I am REALLY worried about the "adjustment" the airline company made so we now have a much shorter connection time than we planned!) so this wrap up is pretty much all about our trip to Hawaii!  Once again we'll be sharing some things we've  loved and/or disliked, accomplished, some things we've improved upon and/or that need improvement, and noticed.
