Friday Favorites: Rainy First Week of May
We had a pretty rainy and uneventful introduction to May this week. But even in ordinary weeks there is something to be thankful for and this week my favorites include a trip that we planned (for later this summer)!
I took Ian to the bank and got him all set up with his new checking/ savings accounts. It's such a weird adulting milestone! Lucky for me all my kids are great savers and I'm not worried about his finances at all.
Saturday afternoon my husband and I took off for a date night out consisting of dinner and shopping. We planned to tackle mother's day shopping and ended up buying a home entertainment system for the basement. We had dinner at Smoky Bones-- which I only thought was okay since I'm not a big spicy/ BBQ/ meat fan and came home with zero mother's day gifts. LOL. It was still fun though and nice to get dressed up and out of the house.
Sunday we had to pick up the TV we ordered the night before at a different Best Buy and offered to take Ian and his cousin to Bass Pro while we were already heading that way anyway. We had another meal out this time at Longhorn. Then we got home and I visited with my mom while my step-father helped Ben install our whole system.
Monday I made up a batch of cards and I just LOVED how they turned out!
I made three variations of this same card |
Tuesday and Wednesday were rainy, cold days and my mother in law came over in the afternoon to have a little rummy & pitch battle with Ian and I. We played 2 games of rummy and 1 game of pitch and Ian won all 3 times! That kid has so much luck (and probably a little skill too 😉).
But my absolute favorite of all-- we finally re-booked our Disney/Universal trip from 2020 and will be heading there at the end of the summer. I am dreading the heat, humidity, and crowds but honestly, with my boys' schedule it's the only time that is even going to remotely work for us. And hey, it's Disney! It's not like we won't have fun regardless.
Oh I am soooo excited for you! Can't wait to read all about your Disney trip! Keep the faith- looks like the nice weather will finally be joining us next week! :)
ReplyDeleteYay, I can't wait! I need some nice sunny weather.
DeleteYou will have so much fun on your trip. I love the cards you made. Happy Friday friend.

Thank you! I am really enjoying the whole card making process again.. for a few years there I felt like I was just going through the motions but it's so fun to sit and create.
DeleteYay for Disney! I may be going next February. I hope we get to do it!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to go too!!
DeleteLoving the florals in that Mother's Day card you made. So pretty, Joanne! And yay for Disney! Y'all are going to have a blast!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love how that turned out so much that I made several other cards just like it. I can not wait for Disney; though I am keeping my fingers crossed they bring back the dining plan!
Deleteyay for a Disney trip!
ReplyDeleteIt is very exciting!

That sounds fun!
DeleteYour cards look great! I still need to make a card for my mom, so thanks for the reminder! I always buy gifts way in advance but for some reason always end up making a card the day before. And those pictures of the lake in the morning look so peaceful!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome for the reminder; I find I either make my cards waay in advance along with the gift or leave it until the last minute with very little in between.
DeleteOhh! That is a big milestone for Ian to get his bank account and it sounds like a good date night, dinner and shopping. What a treat. Those cards are so pretty and hooray for rebooking the Disney trip. How exciting.
ReplyDeleteThanks! We are very excited.
DeleteI'm so excited for your Disney trip. Yes, it will be hot but you'll make the best of it. When kids get older, it gets harder and harder to schedule a trip! Have a happy Mother's Day weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely finding that out!
DeleteBesides Disney always has those misters that really cool you off. How exciting you get to go!!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I love the cactus on your card....since moving to AZ, cacti make us smile. They really are SO interesting,
XOXO

Very true! We used to go every September so I keep telling myself that 2-3 weeks can't make THAT much difference in temperature. We'll see...
DeleteRainy and chilly here in Indiana, too! Isn't it fun to be planning trips once again?
ReplyDeleteI assume you don't mean Disney Paris...... We have a2 week vacation now and staying in our own country, it looks like we will be having fabulous weather. Lots of cycling to do! Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteNope, Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
DeleteYay for booking your Disney trip!! Disney is definitely exhausting, but so much fun too.
ReplyDeleteIt is such an exhausting vacation but I just love it.
DeleteThank you for sharing your week and lovely photos with us at #weekendcoffeeshare. Your Disney trip sounds exciting, something to look forward to. Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe cards are so pretty! And a Disney/Universal trip is so exciting! We haven't been to Universal, but Disney is always fun. Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWe went to Universal... 5 years ago (I think it was) and we really loved the Harry Potter sections.
DeleteSuch a great trip with wonderful scenery! Your photos are just awesome. The cards are too cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHi Joanne - it sounds like a nice week for you and your family - and the icing on the top is getting to do that Disney trip - it'll make for some great blog posts down the track.
ReplyDeleteIt sure will!
DeleteOh my gosh - you play pitch! That is my absolute favorite card game. We play with my son and daughter-in-law every chance we get.
ReplyDeleteWe do! It's so much fun!!
DeleteHow exciting to finally get to take the trip you had planned from 2020! It still baffles me we went through all that.
ReplyDeleteI just hope the boys have a lot of fun since neither one of them seems to remember a whole lot from our other trips.
DeleteI feel like everyone is finally getting to rebook their Disney/Universal trips. So glad it is finally open again. It is a crazy milestone to have kids who have their own checking and savings accounts.
ReplyDeleteI feel like that too; in fact seeing so many other people rescheduling their trip is what finally motivated us to reschedule ours. It is such a crazy milestone! We're ticking lots of them off this year.
