Friday Favorites: Goodbye May!

We had a great week.  Despite temperatures varying a good 50 degrees all week long we did have beautiful, sunny weather most of the time so I am not complaining!

We had the best time hiking to the top of Mount Wachusett with our hiking group on Friday.  The weather was sunny with a decent enough breeze that the climb was mostly pleasant. The view from the top was incredible too.

We stopped for a rest in the meadow about 1/3 of the way up the mountain

The breeze at the summit felt wonderful

With highs in the 90's on Saturday we went out for ice cream after Alec's karate class and lunch (though I elected not to get any since my eczema was already flaring up). I did get to spend some time out on the deck reading my book later in the afternoon though!

Despite another day of really hot temperatures we pressure washed the deck and I planted a few more flower pots to put around the house.  I even put out most of my garden decorations.

After our weekend heatwave the weather cooled down considerably on Monday but it was just perfect for hiking.  Evan and I settled on an hour long hike to Ross' Cliff and I just loved how green everything was!

We went hiking at the dam on Wednesday and the weather could not have been more perfect! Mid 60's with a cool breeze.

We saw a set of swans

We're pretty sure this is a muskrat

I woke Thursday morning to a bouquet of roses and an anniversary card from my husband; he even put them in a vase for me!

I did up my nails with some new wraps; I am loving this look for summer!  It's a bit hard to tell in the photos but the base is a nude/peach tone and they gradually bleed into white at the tips.

I spent a portion of my morning working in the craftroom making up some cards; I had a few new things I still have not gotten to play with and I love how these two cards turned out (but I LOVE blue and butterflies so I might be a bit biased).

How was your week?

  1. May slipped off unnoticeably! We've been having quite a shy spring here. It was a cold spring showing winter's teeth to change suddenly into a hot-raging summer. I wonder what we'll do in July in August? Smoulder, I guess :) Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead!

    1. Thank you! I thought with our temps in the 90's over the weekend that might mean we were in for a long hot summer but then everything cooled right back off again so I really have no guess.

  6. Happy anniversary! And, is it me, or does power washing feel really satisfying? It's probably just me :)

    1. Thanks! I think power washing does feel really satisfying; it's usually all I can do not to start pressure washing everything. We probably should have done the house while we were at it but my husband is still recuperating from his nasty fall a few weeks ago and I didn't want to make him overdo it.

  19. Our weather has been hot, hot, hot! We were up in the three digits recently and it was so bad. I usually don’t complain but hot temps and I do not get along! Boo to no ice cream but I hear you. Btw, Which book are you reading? I also loved your nail polish color. You just inspired me to go lighter on my nails this time around. Happy long weekend!
