Valentine Cards: February De-Stash Challenge

Today I am linking up with the collaboration group for a fun craft room de-stash challenge.  I haven't been motivated to do much crafting lately and thought this was a great way to force myself to sit and create.  With the post going live today-- on Valentine's Day I thought it would be perfect to show the cards I made for my husband and boys.

I always have tons of papers on hand and I had a few "old" stamps sets that were totally new-in-the-case that I really wanted to try using.

I rarely start crafting with an exact idea in my mind but when I am cardmaking I do start with the fold I want, the stamp set I plan to use and at least some vague idea of a color scheme.

I wanted more of a traditional card base for my second card.  I lightly stamped little hearts all over the background and added some shiny brads for interest before adhering my ribbon and cut out hearts to the front.

For my third card I made a middle fold card and while I had intended to only use my heart stamps for these cards the printed background reminded me of clouds and sheep and once I saw that I couldn't get it out of  my head so I pulled out my fun sheep set and made him the focal point of the card.

It would have been even cuter with flocking added to the sheep but I seem to have run out of my flocking powder.

For my last card I went back to hearts and had fun using my die cut machine to cut out two sets of hearts and trim.  Using dimensionals I popped all the hearts out against the background and trimmed them with the reverse colors/ prints.  It was a bit tedious but I love how it turned out!

Make sure to check out what all my fellow crafters made!

  3. Lovely cards and even better using materials you already had. I know I'm most creative when I do that. Soft spot for the sheep. It really didn't need the flock powder. It looks perfect as it is. #mmbc

    1. I have taken year long breaks before so I know it will come back at some point. It seems like it slowly is; especially for paper crafting.

    1. Thank you! I've been paper crafting since I was in high school and began making cards for family and my husband then. Every time I think of giving it up I'm told "you cant!" And they're right; I would miss it far too much.
