The Cards I've Been Making Lately

Other than my Christmas Cards, I feel like it has been ages since I've done anything creative with my paper decorating supplies.  I dragged out all my cardstocks, stamps, and tools for a full day of card making recently and I had so much fun.

I do have to apologize that some of my photos aren't the greatest; we have been having some really dark and stormy days and the lighting has been a real struggle.

The first card is my favorite!  I loved the "new" fold and the fun gingham background as well as this simple and adorable stamp that I rarely think to use.

The second card was less cute and more grown up since it was for my mother.  While her favorite color is blue, I do associate yellow with her quite frequently and for her birthday in particular since she loves lemon cake.

I really wanted to use my new stamp set for the last card and while I think it's cute, I do feel like it needs something a bit "more" to really make it special.  But I have learned in my 20+ years of cardmaking that not every card can wow and sometimes good enough just has to be good enough.

  3. They are pretty! I pivoted into cards from jewelry and it's nice to have a craft that I can just give away and not feel like it's an imposition. (hey wear these earrings I made I have 10 pair more want them?)

  4. Lovely cards Joanne - it's a great way to be creative on a small scale. I've been getting into collaging and have just discovered neurographical art (I've put a couple of my attempts up on my cresting the hill FB page). It's really good to be using both sides of our brains.

  5. Those cards are more than good enough Joanne. I just love seeing these. I used to make cards and would go to classes. But when we downsized, I gave all of my supplies to a friend since I wasn't doing it as much. It's so creative and fun though.

    1. I have almost given away my supplies several times but after a few months (or even a year away from it) I end up picking it right back and up and I'm always so glad I kept them... though they do take up a lot of space.

  7. Those are so cute, Joanne! I'm one of those people who doesn't like getting cards because I feel so guilty when I toss them! I'd feel extra guilty getting one of these!

    1. I have rarely kept cards of any kind-- and always toss the ones I make for my husband and boys after a few weeks of them being on display!

  10. They are all so beautifully done. Fancy fold cards are always so special to receive, wish I'd make them more often, but I never seem to have the patience.
My favorite one here is the card you made for your mom, it's such a beautiful shade of yellow and I love the die cut frame! The other two are really cute, think I have the stamp you used on the first one too!

    1. Thank you! This was one fancy fold that was surprisingly easy to do... my problem is that I never remember HOW to make them and have to go searching for a video or tutorial to recreate them.
