Bushkill Falls

We had stopped overnight on our way home from North Carolina in Pennsylvania and when we started driving home we noticed signs for Bushkill Falls.  My husband remembered me taking him years ago and through it would be fun to take a break from the car to go hiking and see some waterfalls.

We were on the road early enough that we had time to stop for breakfast before the falls opens up and then we just went and waited outside the gates until they opened them.

It was a hot, muggy day and I was not dressed at all for hiking thinking we were going to be in the car all day but I was determined to enjoy myself.  I knew the falls would be really beautiful and full this year after all the rain they've been having this summer.

There are so many waterfalls on this one property and most of them have great wooden bridges, stairs for access.  There are a few parts where actual hiking is involved but they do try to keep the area as family friendly as they can.

A fun lookout that gives a pretty good perspective on just how far down into the valley the falls are.

It was a perfect little side trip!

  9. Bushkill Falls is one of my favorite places in the Poconos! How fun you got to stop. They're really pretty so see and some nice trails to explore. There's something peaceful about listening to the trickling water of a water fall.
