Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics. I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms! The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2 and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. I think everyone would have loved an Edna Garret in their lives. Benson another sitcom that began airing when I was just 2 and was done by the time I was 9 (another one I must have watched mai...
I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up. I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately. It's such a great stress reliever. 1. Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud. I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears. The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2 The boys being silly. 3. Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband. Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5. Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night. It's fabulous. 6. Movies like Mom's Night Out, Christmas Vacation, and Grown Ups make me laugh out loud. 7. When my ...
The prompts for the entire year will be the same each month—some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of. Some things I've loved: We loved our time at the orchid show; it was so nice and warm and sunny in the greenhouses and the flowers were so pretty. We all LOVED Ovo so much! It was a fabulous show! Evan and I loved our day trip to the aquarium (even if we did wish it had lasted longer; it seems like the exhibits keep shrinking year after year). Some things I've learned: I learned some new recipes we learned so much about so many species of orchids at the show Some things that went well: The ice and snow have melted so we've had some great hikes; many of them with friends! Thompson Dam Cedar swamp trail Lime rock preserve Some things I let go of: I cleaned out my closet a bit more and donated 2 bags of clothes; mostly winter stuff that I haven't worn all season. Linking up with: Final Fridays, Spread the K...
We were scheduled to board our ship, the Celebrity Apex, at 12:30, but our hotel shuttle dropped us off at 11 and we were assured we could check in early. Check in was a breeze and everyone was so helpful and nice. We began exploring the ship, went to our room to check it out: We went to a complimentary lunch at the Tuscan Restaurant. It was delicious. I had Caesar salad, baked salmon (that I forgot to photograph) and chocolate cake. We walked around exploring some more and then around 2 we headed to our room to unpack. View of other ships at port too We watched as the ship was guided out of port and dressed for dinner We went to Cosmopolitan where I got French onion soup and ravioli. ...
Typically we don't do much to celebrate the boys' birthdays. We invite the grandparents over, let the birthday boy pick out a meal and a dessert and that's about it. But I saw some fun 20th birthday banners and party supplies on Amazon so I decided to go just a bit bigger this year. We still only invited grandparents over but I at least decorated the house a bit and we had plates that said "happy 20th birthday." It turned into a whole blue and silver theme... I'm not sure Ian really cared at all but I know he had a good time! I didn't get any pictures of the food but he requested a very simple meal of grilled burgers served with tater tots. I rounded out the meal adding in salad and some corn on the cob. His cake was chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache with mini peanut butter cups around the edge. He didn't have many gifts to open since he mostly received money and had already gotten (and put together) his gift from us....
