Prime Purchases in September

 I had been dreading writing this post because I felt like I had ordered so much from Amazon lately but was pleasantly surprised that I did rather well with my spending this month! Now I'm not sharing EVERYTHING I ordered as we did have some things like laundry detergent and vitamins too but I did share what I consider the highlights of our monthly orders.


This cute criss cross knotted front top is cute; I know the description says sweater but it's more like a tunic if you ask me.


I also bought this cute color block tunic and wore it with these fabulous high waisted leggings. 



I also bought myself a pair of these leggings in a nice dark coffee color because I loved that they had a pocket built in which will come in so handy when we're out hiking! 



I bought the whole set of March graphic novels for Evan and while he is only part of the way through book one he is really enjoying this series.  I love that I can count it as both reading and history in one!

Ian was ready for the next Dirk Pitt novel so I ordered the paperback for him.


He also wanted a new fishing bag and found this fishing backpack that he bought for himself. It's so nice I've been debating about picking up a second bag for my husband for Christmas.



Alec needed a stylus for drawing on his Kindle and ordered himself this set.



I tried out a new fascial scrub; I am loving the feel and smell of this Palmer's Coconut.

    Love the tops! I love your cardigan too. I like the idea of leggings with a pocket, I often wear them for comfort and miss having somewhere to carry my mobile which I need with me all the time. The graphic novels look interesting too. #mmbc

      Me too! I am always searching for pockets in my leggings! That cardigan came from Target and is so comfy.

    I'm off to check off those leggings! I've been looking for some new pairs for a while now. I'll be honest, I never thought I'd be a legging girl, but that has changed. Although if I am going out I only wear them if I can have my tush covered. ; )

    Love the tops! Palmer's products always get such a great review. My Prime Purchases post is up tomorrow - had to leave out a few things I bought for my family for Christmas!

    Great picks! Love the criss cross front tunic sweater! I purchased Palmer's hand cream last year and was very happy with it! The coconut sugar scrub sounds wonderful!

    Oh don't get me started on Amazon, I love it! I always seem to be getting deliveries from there.
    I do love your new buys. I really like Palmer's but the cocoa butter range is my favourite, it smells amazing!

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Making Gift Card and Money Holders Using Scrapbooking and Cardmaking Supples

I don't tend to keep a lot of crafting supplies on hand so when I saw this month's de-stash challenge I wasn't sure what I was going to make.  I finally realized that with so many of my Christmas gifts being cash and gift cards this year that I needed to make up some fun paper crafting/ creative ways to gift them.   I still want my nieces and nephews to have something to open so I pulled out my papers and stamps and made up some cute little money/gift card holders. They were much easier to make than I thought.  The first one I worked on was to hold some oversized Nintendo gift cards.  I made a standard sized card and folded down one corner of the card front.  Then I ran my double sided tape along the bottom an 1/2 way up the side creating a cute little pocket.  Finally I added some cute embellishments and ribbons.   Voila! Dollar Store Candy Cane Wreath

Making a Sugar Cookie "Gingerbread" House

 Alec really wanted to try making his own gingerbread house this year without using a premade kit.  We talked about how we never really eat the house since they don't taste very good.  Years ago we gave up on the frosting that comes in the kit and began making our own so we thought perhaps we should try making our our house too. Only problem is that no one in the house likes gingerbread.  We talked about trying to make the house using a sugar cookie recipe.  Alec was so excited at that idea since he just LOVES sugar cookies.   He found a recipe online for a simple sugar cookie recipe and mixed up the dough.  He rolled it out an cut it to the size of our cookie sheets-- we had read that it's easiest to cut the house pieces out after the dough has been baked and is still warm and soft because then you don't have to worry about any of the pieces losing their shape while baking.
