This month's Pinterest challenge was all about Thanksgiving and while I don't typically do much extra decorating for the holiday I did see this cute Give Thanks banner that I thought would add a really nice touch to our fireplace.
While the link leads to a free printable version I knew I could easily whip up something cute and quick on my Cricut.
Using Cricut Sans I made my letters in all caps adjusting them all to be around 2" tall. Using a free banner image sized to 3" wide and 4" tall I cut out 6 each in orange and green (this gave me one extra banner but allowed me to cut them all out in just 2 full sheets/cuts).
Once I had everything cut, I laid out my design and glued the letters in place using rubber cement.
After the letters were glued on, I added small holes in the corner of each card to hang them by.
I threaded some ribbon through and then hung it on the mantle before making sure the letters were perfectly spaced.

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics. I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms! The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2 and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. I think everyone would have loved an Edna Garret in their lives. Benson another sitcom that began airing when I was just 2 and was done by the time I was 9 (another one I must have watched mai...
I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up. I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately. It's such a great stress reliever. 1. Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud. I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears. The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2 The boys being silly. 3. Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband. Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5. Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night. It's fabulous. 6. Movies like Mom's Night Out, Christmas Vacation, and Grown Ups make me laugh out loud. 7. When my ...
We decided not to renew our Amazon Prime membership in December so I haven't been ordering nearly as much from Amazon these past two month. I do, however, wait until I have a large list so I can take advantage of free shipping. My intention had been to try and not buy anything from them this year but it seems like I'm still placing orders at least once or twice a month... mostly because I can't find the same stuff in stores locally. A lot of these organic food choices are cheaper in bulk through amazon and since I am the only one that eats them, they should last me quite a long time! If anyone has any suggestions on where else to look for cheaper organic products I've love some ideas! I did place an order with Vitacost, and looked into Azure (which doesn't have drop off locations near us). Our nearest Trader Joes is 45 minutes away as is the nearest Whole Foods which were my next thoughts... Raw organic cashews Organic hemp seeds Basil seeds Raw organic pi...
It's the 10th of the month and time for 10 on the 10th with Marsha. This month we're asked to share 10 of our favorite summer memories... Oh I both love and hate this prompt! I can't wait to read everyone's favorite memories and I just LOVE summer... and yet I have an awful memory. I often say I am so thankful for the blog because I can look things up. That said I have tons of little snippets of memories-- my birthday is in the summer so just thinking of my birthdays and parties would yield tons of memories! I have no hope of narrowing this down to just 10! I decided to focus on the summers from before we had kids-- every summer with the kids growing up on the lake and homeschooling is filled with lots of fun little moments but our "big" memories like family vacations almost always happened in the off season (Sept. or February usually). 1. Growing up my stepfather owned a time share in Provincetown on Cape Cod and we used to go most summers but I mostly re...
It's the last Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for What's Up Wednesday. I am so happy to see February coming to an end. While winter is far from over here it often feels like February is one of the longest months of the year; but it flew by this time. What We're Eating: Sunday: Chicken & sundried tomato orzo one dish Monday: Chicken fajita chili with cornbread Tuesday: Salmon (chicken breasts for the boys), baked potato (sweet potato for me) and zucchini. Wednesday: Lasagna (I'll make a meat variety for the family and an eggplant one for me) Thursday: I'm picking up Alec at school and him and I are heading to a show so we'll eat out and everyone else is on their own. Friday: Ham steak, rice pilaf, and peas Saturday: Chicken, broccoli, & rice casserole (Alec's favorite!) with salad. What I'm Reminiscing About: Nothing that I can think of. What I'm Loving: Even though it has been very cold and icy at l...
