This month's Pinterest challenge was all about fall and I just knew I wanted to create something with flowers. I thought about making another door wreath but wanted to try something a little different. I have so many pumpkin/ flower centerpieces pinned to my pinterest boards and I wondered if I could create something similar that would last year after year.
As much as I love this pin and it's beautiful pumpkin centerpiece I do not like cutting into real pumpkins (I just can't stand the smell!) and while real flowers are just so beautiful I like to have something that lasts longer than a week. So I went to Michael's to see what I could find.
I just loved this adorable wooden pumpkin and thought that with some floral foam and a few faux flowers I could have a really cute centerpiece.
First I cut the foam block to fit in the wooden pumpkin so that it was level with the sides. Then I began putting in my flowers. Starting with the center and working my way evenly outwards.
Once I had my flowers the way I liked them I began working on filling in any gaps and making sure to use filler to block the foam from eye view.
I did use one small bunch of pink flowers I found in my stash to help as filler and just love how it turned out!! Shown below from all 4 sides.
This will be a perfect centerpiece for my fall dining table!

Love the wooden pumpkin container you chose to make this lovely arrangement, JoAnne. You can use it in so many ways for Fall! I'm with you on not using the real thing. I always end up having a mess and worry about them attracting bugs if the pumpkin sits around too long.
Super Cute! I just ordered some faux flowers to play around with from Amazon, I hope they are as cute as yours! So great to use a faux pumpkin too so it will last and last! Jenna
This arrangement is adorable, your pumpkin box is so nice, giving you a real pumpkin affect without the aging pumpkin smell. I will keep an eye out for one.

That turned out cute! I don't like using the real pumpkins, either. I decorate so early for Fall that they would be rotten by the time I was done with them!
What a lovely centrepiece, Joanne! I had a pumpkin with live flowers in it last year, but of course its life is limited by how long the pumpkin (and the flowers) last. This is a beautiful, practical solution! Thank you for sharing it at the Hearth and Soul Link Party.
I’m featuring this post at the party this week. Hope to ‘see’ you there! Take care, stay well, and I wish you a wonderful week!
I know what you mean about cutting into a real pumpkin, even though I don't have a problem eating the cooked vegetable! Your version will last a long time and won't collapse on itself as the season goes on.
Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Growing pains aired in 1985 which put me around age 8 and it stayed on the air until I was 15 or so; I'm pretty sure most people in my age group watched mostly for Kirk Cameron and all his antics. I still have a soft spot for family sit-coms! The Facts of Life aired when I was just 2 and stayed on the air until I was 11 so I'm sure the episodes I remember so fondly were either some of the later ones and then reruns shown later on when I was old enough to watch from the beginning. I think everyone would have loved an Edna Garret in their lives. Benson another sitcom that began airing when I was just 2 and was done by the time I was 9 (another one I must have watched mai...
I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up. I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately. It's such a great stress reliever. 1. Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud. I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears. The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2 The boys being silly. 3. Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband. Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5. Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night. It's fabulous. 6. Movies like Mom's Night Out, Christmas Vacation, and Grown Ups make me laugh out loud. 7. When my ...

It's the last Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for What's Up Wednesday. What We're Eating: Sunday: Pot roast, roasted potatoes, and asparagus (salmon for me) Monday: Pollock, green beans, & rice with chicken tenderloins for the boys. Tuesday: Pumpkin sausage penne with salad Wednesday: Leftover turkey with vegetable fried rice and salad Thursday: BLT grinders with chips and salad (I'll just have salad with chick peas) Friday: Basil chicken pasta with salad Saturday: Crock pot short ribs with mashed potatoes and peas (I have no idea what I'll be eating instead) What I'm Reminiscing About: We've been talking about how to handle picking Alec up from school (as weirdly his last day is on a Wednesday and he has exams Tuesday night!)... and it seems like we were just dropping him off at college yesterday! The prompts for the entire year will be the same each month—some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of. Some things I've loved: We loved our time at the orchid show; it was so nice and warm and sunny in the greenhouses and the flowers were so pretty. We all LOVED Ovo so much! It was a fabulous show! Evan and I loved our day trip to the aquarium (even if we did wish it had lasted longer; it seems like the exhibits keep shrinking year after year). Some things I've learned: I learned some new recipes we learned so much about so many species of orchids at the show Some things that went well: The ice and snow have melted so we've had some great hikes; many of them with friends! Thompson Dam Cedar swamp trail Lime rock preserve Some things I let go of: I cleaned out my closet a bit more and donated 2 bags of clothes; mostly winter stuff that I haven't worn all season.
