Mother's Day 3-D Floral Shadowbox

Today I am linking up with a few fellow bloggers to bring you some floral themed crafts for spring.

I just knew I wanted to make something using the paper flowers I have been seeing all over the internet and thought I could make a fabulous Mother's Day gift.

First I began by using a template from the Cricut Design space and cut out the flowers.  I tried a few flowers before settling on making mine approximately 6x6"  then I rolled them all... depending on how tightly I rolled them I needed between 6 and 7 flowers in each size.

It took me two full days to get all my flowers cut, rolled, and glued.  As I made them I laid them out in my frame so I could see how it was looking.

Once I had them all done I glued them in place and set them aside to try.

I ended up purchasing my saying through Cricut Design Space (for $1.99) and flattened it out so it would all be one color.  I sized it to the fit the glass of my frame and cut it out.  Then I weeded it and used transfer tape to bring my image onto the glass.

Here is my completed project.  I love it (but do wish I had adhered the saying just a 1/2 inch or so lower).

Make sure you stop by and see what my fellow co-hosts are sharing today too.

  5. That is such a pretty gift idea. I love the paper flowers in rows of colour. I can imagine this as a lovely wedding anniversary gift maybe, with rows of flowers in shades of red for a ruby anniversary or matte and sparkly gold for a Golden anniversary.

  8. I love this so much! I want to try to make it! I'm pinning this so I remember it the next time I actually order art supplies. I'm trying so hard not to order non-essentials. Maybe I can make this with the paper I already have.

    1. I needed about 4 sheets of paper in each color since I could only fit 2 on each page; I was so happy that I had enough of each shade I wanted and that vinyl too.
