March De-Stash Challenge-- Spring Mason Jar Luminaries
Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C'mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Everyone is allowed a $10 allowance for necessities to complete their project (i.e. paint brushes, glue, etc), but the bulk of it must be created from their own stash of goodies.
Let's meet this month's bloggers!!

I don't know about you but I always seem to have a collection of mason jars in various sizes lurking around. They are great for storing food but I use them for lots of craft projects too.
I wanted a pretty centerpiece for the dining room table and knew I could easily whip something up. I bought 1 package of printed spring napkins from the dollar store and I was ready to tackle my project.
First I separated the napkins into the front printed side and the back white side. I was only using the printed side for this project (though the backsides of the three pieces came in handy for cleaning my brush and hands when I was done).
I decoupaged the napkin onto the jar using Modge Podge I already had on hand. I held the jar by the rim and since I wasn't decorating that part I set them upside down on the table to dry.
I found working with smaller pieces worked much better than trying to cover the jar in one.
Once all three were dry I decorated the rim with some matching ribbon I found in my drawer and put a battery powered tea light in each jar.
The patterns cast pretty shadows on my white tablecloth in the evening.

These are so pretty. Things like this are so hard to photograph aren't they? The colours don't show as well in the daylight and if you light them up and take photos when it's dark it's SO difficult to get the balance right. I bet these are even prettier in real life (not that they don't look nice in your photos...oh dear, I hoping you know what I mean and I'm not being horribly rude!)
ReplyDeleteLOL! No worries, I know exactly what you mean and yes, they can be so hard to get a great photo of.
