Hiking Mount Wachusett

Last weekend my husband and I felt like doing some hiking so we took the younger two boys up Mount Wachusett; I later found out that our very first trip up Wachusett was on that exact same day 6 years earlier!



We had beautiful weather and decided to try out a new and shorter trail that went right up to the summit without much meandering.  It was quite the cardio workout and we did stop a couple quick times (though the mosquitoes were out so they were fairly short stops!).






Once at the top we enjoyed the views and a bit of snack too.

We took a slightly longer trail down but we did stop for a few minutes to enjoy the meadow view.


By the time we reached the bottom we were ready for some lunch.  We found a great little restaurant nearby that we had never been to-- The Mountain Barn.  We figured it must be pretty great when we pulled up to a private helicopter landing!

We had a pretty view from our table and the food was delicious!


We finished up just in time to watch the helicopter take back off.

    How fun! I snowboard there and really should explore it in summer!

      I bet you'd really like it! They have lots and lots of hiking trails and options for getting to the summit.

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? Dollar Store Candy Cane Wreath

Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6.  Since the 10th falls on a Sunday this month (and I don't blog on the weekends) I thought I'd share my 10 on the 10th a bit early. I love that it also coincides with Friday Favorites since Marsha's 10 on the 10th is often one of my favorite prompts to answer.  Rather than asking us specific questions this month, Marsha has asked us to share 10 things we like to do or eat in November. I thought I'd actually share 10 of each! This or That: Thanksgiving Edition

 I'm getting pretty excited for Thanksgiving tomorrow!  I have all the food prepped and ready to go.  I was going to share my Thanksgiving favorites but really that's mostly just our menu sine I cook and mainly just cook my favorites.  We keep it real simple in our family and don't have the dozens or so dishes that everyone else seems to prepare.  I saw this cute little This or That Thanksgiving Edition and thought it would make a perfect blog post for today.  As always I started with the original...  And here's one with my answers.  I honestly don't know anyone that makes ham for Thanksgiving... ham tends to be either a Christmas or an Easter thing up here (though I do see ham in the stores so I know people must have them).  We have always made a turkey in our family and just a turkey with lots of side dishes (that may or may not change through the years).  We really eat around 2 so between lunch and dinner but we treat it as a late lunch.
