Friday Favorites-- No More Braces
We had a pretty quiet week. Ian spent much of it at work with his grandfather while the younger two boys and I enjoyed lots of quiet days at home. I'm starting to get a little bit bored sitting around the house while they play so many video games that I'm toying with the idea of starting "back to school" soon.
I've been enjoying so much time sitting down back, reading a book, watching the lake. It's great!
Sunday we headed out for a family fun day but hadn't realized that the arena near our destination had a HUGE game going; traffic and parking were just nightmares so we aborted our plan and headed out to Uno Grill for lunch before coming back home to go swimming. We ended our night picking blueberries.
Alec made us all a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake on Tuesday... this kid is killing me with all these sweet treats and baking creations! I simply must sample them all.
The other two boys and I went on a nice long hour walk Tuesday morning while Alec was at karate. It was still hot and muggy but most of what we walked was in the shade and it was early enough in the day that it was completely awful trying to get exercise in.
The younger boys and I went to the mall on Wednesday and bought a few birthday gifts for some parties we have coming up. We then tried to spend some time outside but were chased inside by a thunderstorm. We were really hoping the rain would bring slightly cooler temperatures with it.
The older two boys have been playing Monopoly all week; at one point during their first game they actually used up all the money in the bank!
Thursday morning Alec had an early appointment to get his braces taken off. After years of having had so much done to his teeth he was quite excited! All he wanted was a package of Rolos so he could enjoy the caramel and some sugarless gum.

Congrats on the braces! Gabbie has a few more months of hers. That cheesecake looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteHe's loving being able to chew gum again. That cheesecake was amazing but I am so glad it is gone; waay to tempting for me!
DeleteThat raspberry cheesecake looks delish!! My baby girl got her braces on again this week. Her ortho took hers off too early in February and we haven't been happy with her smile, so we had him put them back on. This time, we're not going to let him rush it!
ReplyDeleteOH no; she must have been so disappointed to have to have them go back on. Alec has been in braces for more than 4 1/2 years now so we are hopeful he is all set. Though we'll keep seeing the ortho. for the next 3 years for check ups.
DeleteThanks so much for linking up at the #UnlimitedMonthlyLinkParty 3! Shared.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWow! That cheesecake looks divine. What a lovely, restful week.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Dawn
It was amazing!... and so awful for my new healthy eating lifestyle.
DeleteYour plans may have changed, but it looks like you still had fun. I'm so relieved we don't have the traffic problems here in the midwest that they have in the west and eastern parts of the US. Those desserts look incredible. And your son looks so happy to have his braces off!
ReplyDeleteWe live "in the country" so it's rare for us to have any traffic problems but as soon as we get near the cities it tends to be pretty bad.
