Friday Favorites-- Mount Wachusett Week
We had a pretty good week even if most of what I had planned ended up getting canceled. We still filled our days rather productively and enjoyed a nice laid back week. How was your week?
Alec made a delicious s'mores brownie cake on Friday and Saturday to celebrate my mother- in- law's birthday. It was so good (though full disclosure; I scraped all the marshmallows off my s'mores cake since I just do not like them but the brownie was delicious). We always have her over for dinner near her birthday and she always requests cheeseburgers and tater tots. The boys LOVE it!
I finished up all my scrapbooking pages from last year and began organizing all of the photos I've taken so far this year; setting aside those I want to add to the scrapbooks. Come back tomorrow to see the pages I've been making this month.
On Sunday my husband and I took the younger two boys on a hike up Mt. Wachusett. Ian went to work with this grandfather and was rather relieved to miss our trip. We tried a "new" trail and just loved the views from the top. It was such a clear day we could see the Boston skyline and Mount Monadnock in the distance. I'll have a full write- up about our trip on the blog this Sunday!
After hiking we went to lunch at a nearby restaurant that got great Google reviews; we arrived just as a private helicopter landed! They were taking back off just as we finished lunch so we stayed to watch then fly away. It was pretty neat but I don't think I ever want to have to ride in one.
Monday the boys and I met up with some friends of ours to try out a new hiking trail. We had another new family meet us and out hike ended up lasting just over 2 hours! The trails were quite pretty but we were so glad to have downloaded a map to our phones as they were a bit confusing at times.
My mother came and hung out with us by the lake all afternoon after lunch and the boys all walked over to visit my mother- in- law for a bit too. It was a nice relaxing afternoon after our morning exercise.
Alec made a delicious lemon/blueberry bread for us all on Wednesday. The recipe made 2 loaves so he put a lemon glaze on one and left the other plain.
We tried out a new science experiment; making dry erase shapes float!
We also went on a short hike at Wallum Lake.
We went to pick some fresh peaches on Thursday. I've already started a peaches board on Pinterest for ideas of what to make with them all. They still have lots of blueberries for picking and we arrived back with all our fresh picked produce at the same time as a fresh batch of blueberry donuts were put out on display; yep, we bought some!
I also cleaned out and organized the kitchen cabinets and worked on a few more blog posts. Ian headed out with his grandfather to go fishing in the morning and ended up working most of the day but we did save him a donut.

And on that last note, I want a doughnut AND s’mores brownies. Love trying out new trails. Happy Weekend
