Spring Bucket List-- How We Did

I can't believe it's almost summertime already! Before we share our summer bucket list I thought we should look back at our spring bucket list and see how we did.  We have had so much fun this spring.

Here are just a few of the things we hope to accomplish this season:

1. Go check out Garden in the Woods-- Check! We went one sunny day and spent an hour wandering all the paths, checking out all the flowers.

2.  Go back and see the Tower Hill Botanical Gardens in bloom- Nope, the boys didn't want and with new admission rates that would have cost us over $30 it didn't seem worth it to force them to go.

3.  Explore Fort Trumbull State park-- Check! We went with some friends of ours and then spent the afternoon at the beach.

4.  Tour the Freedom Trail in Boston-- Check! We spent a wonderful day in Boston as a family walking the trail and touring many of the museums and sights.

5.  Plant a small herb garden (or container garden)-- Check! We planted parsley, chives, and basil in little plastic cups and once they started sprouting we pretty much were just left with basil.  Oh well, we tried.

6.  Decorate Easter Eggs--Check!  It took us until just a few days before Easter but I finally persuaded my boys to decorate some eggs.  We revisited a fun marble dyeing technique we used many years ago using cool whip and food coloring.

7.  Head to the Farmer's Market to buy fresh local produce-- Not yet, it's only been open for 3 weeks and I didn't realize they moved their day to Saturday instead of Monday afternoon so hopefully we'll get there soon.

8.  Go to the zoo-- Check!  The younger boys and I spent a morning checking out Roger Williams zoo and their new rainforest building.

9.  Make a spring themed dessert recipe-- like this Bunny Tail Easter Muddy Buddies recipe or these Spring Cookie Bars-- Check! With Alec's cooking challenge we've made lots of yummy recipes and treats!

10.  Go to the beach & check out tide pools, walk on the rocks, smell the salty sea air! Check!  We spent a day in Jamestown; hiking the rocks, having a picnic and watching the coast guard perform some open water maneuvers.

11.  Take our bikes out for a ride-- Check! We went on a couple of bike rides this spring.

12. See the new DisneyNature film- Penguins!--Check! We took a Monday afternoon off from school to go see this wonderful new nature film.

  1. You guys got so many things accomplished! Lots of fun stuff here! Jacob saw Penguins on a school field trip and loved it. I wanted to take Olivia, too, but we never got around to it.

  2. Looks like a fun spring! We are working on our summer bucket list and doing the free things first since we just came back from vacation. Not sure if we will do many of the boys choices since they were all pricey!

    1. We are just starting to put together our summer bucket list... my boys actually don't seem to want to do much this summer but I figure I'll pull a list together anyway since I don't like sitting home every single day all summer long. I need to get out every now and then.

    1. We sure were! With all the rain we had I didn't think it was going to be possible to do even 1/2 of these.

    1. We really do try to. I can only take so many days at home in a row before I start to go a little stir crazy.
