What's Up Wedesday-- January Edition

It's just about the end of the month and time for another What's Up Wednesday post.

Let's dive right in!

What We're Eating This Week:

Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, broccoli and salad

Caprese Tuscan chicken with spaghetti and salad

Chicken, broccoli, and rice casserole

What I'm Reminiscing About: How is it that my middle son is now a teenager?  Wow! Those 13 years flew right by.  Look how little he was!!  He was my smallest baby  (with lots of dark hair).. and now he's almost as tall as his dad.

What I'm Loving:  My youngest son and I have been working out for over a week straight using Leslie Sansone videos.  We found her on YouTube and pick a different one each day (rotating in the one DVD we own too).  I just love that his asking me to workout holds me accountable and we've been consistently doing at least 3 miles each day while it was below freezing or raining cats and dogs.

What We've Been Up To:  We're hitting the books and I took time this past week to look through each of our subject areas and see if we're on point for finishing up in May (or very early June) and so far it looks like we're doing pretty good!  I've only written up a high school update so far but am working on one for my middle school boys too.

What I'm Dreading: Nothing much!

What I'm Working On:  I changed the format of my blog on the first of the year and I am spending lots of time culling through old pages and trying to get them to fit this new format (as well as importing new pictures where they seem to have just gone missing!).

What I'm Excited About: The boys and I have a few fun things planned for the month like visiting a new museum, taking a painting class together, and going to a few birthday parties.

What I'm Watching/ Reading:  I'm so happy that ALL the shows are back on and we're watching our regular round up.  I also began watching Drop Dead Diva over Christmas vacation and I am really enjoying it!  It's the perfect show to watch when I'm folding clothes.  I binge watched the latest season of Grace and Frankie and my husband and I are currently working through all the Ray Donovan episodes on our free trial of Showtime.

I read more than a half-dozen books this month and they were all so good that I can't pick just one favorite.  You'll have to check out my list of reads for January by clicking here.

What I'm Listening To: The boys and I started a new book on CD to listen to in the car.  It's called Al Capone Does my Shirts.  It's about a boy growing up on Alcatraz Island in 1935.  His dad is a prison guard and his family has just moved there.  His younger sister has autism and Moose often feels like the odd man out forgotten in all the special needs of his sister.

What I'm Wearing:
Lots of fleece lined yoga pants with big thick sweaters and turtlenecks.

What I'm Doing this Weekend:  Nothing! Though I may try to talk my husband into a little date night... as long as it's not super cold.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:   Valentines Day!  It may be a bit cheesy but I just LOVE Valentine's day.  I am a hopeless romantic and just love to shower my family and my guy with love.

What Else is New: We're getting a new treadmill delivered today!  I can not wait to get it set up and start using it.  I have been doing so great about exercising 5 days a week and do not want to lose that momentum.

  1. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your treadmill? We are thinking about getting one too, especially with this cold weather. I've been using a video to work out at home too recently, and it's nice to get that momentum going. I'm super excited about Valentine's day as well. I started decorating my planner in my February theme this week, since half of the week is in February, and it was legit so exciting to use those hearts and flowers! I need the brightness right now to thaw this crazy Winter!

    1. Not at all! We wanted a good high quality treadmill and my husband researched a few of them before we settled on one by Sole Fitness. We ordered directly from them on-line since their prices were even cheaper than Amazon.

  3. LOVE Leslie but am taking a break from her. Long story. I also need to start thinking about trying Grace and Frankie again. My parents love that show and keep trying to convince me to start watching it again. It's -50 wind chill here today, maybe today is a good day.
