December Pinterest Challenge-- Decorating Glass with Vinyl

Welcome to the December Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen!



This month I was searching for some quick and easy Christmas gift ideas when I saw this pin on Pinterest.  Unfortunately it led to an Etsy site but I figured I could make something just like it using my Circut and an old photo frame.


First I searched for free SVG Christmas themed files that I could use.  Then settled on this nativity scene. I knew I wanted the words O Holy Night under them and found this great file.

Once I had them both in my Cricut Design space mat and sized to just a bit smaller than my glass I was ready to cut it out in vinyl.


Then I weeded out all the parts of the image I didn't want on my glass.


I laid my glass over my design to get an idea of where I wanted to place it.


Then using transfer tape I gently peeled up my image and adhered it to my glass one small corner at a time making sure to rub out as many air bubbles as I possibly could.


I loved it!!

I had an odd sized frame so I decided to cut some gold wrapping paper to fit behind the glass and give my picture a nice finished look.



I then went on to make other pictures using various themes.  I sure hope our family members enjoy their gifts.  The hardest part was getting most of the bubbles out of the vinyl!




I just love these Pinterest Challenges!  They always get us to try something fun and new.

In January my boys and I made nail polish marbled mugs.
In February we tried out a new recipe for turkey & cornbread pot pie.
In March my boys worked on making a salt dough map.
In April my boys made some glittery mason jar luminaries. 
In May my oldest on and husband made a hand forged key holder
In June I made zucchini crust pizza for myself.
In July we made cheesy ranch Chex Mix
In August we made blueberry yogurt popsicles
In September we made mocha zucchini bread with dark chocolate chips
In October we made a reversible fall/winter sign for the front porch
In November we made Maple Apple Butter Muffins

      Aw, thanks! The hardest part is getting all the bubbles to disappear. My first attempt ended was ripped up and I tried again.

    What wonderful gifts! Wish I was on your list. I must be the only blogger without a Circuit machine, maybe Santa will bring me one? Particularly like O Holy Night, the true meaning of the holiday.

    Such a great gift! I agree - the hardest party is getting those bubbles out. I read somewhere to use a pin to pierce the vinyl to help get them out.

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? Dollar Store Candy Cane Wreath

Today I am linking up with some fellow bloggers for a Dollar Store craft challenge.  I don't often participate in these challenges since I try to stay away from our local Dollar Stores; I find they can be quite dangerous for me!  I knew this was the perfect time to find some inexpensive holiday decorations though and I just LOVE how my wreath turned out!  I hope you stop by and see what the other hosts are sharing. Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. 10 on the 10th... on the 8th

 Since the 10th falls on a Sunday this month (and I don't blog on the weekends) I thought I'd share my 10 on the 10th a bit early. I love that it also coincides with Friday Favorites since Marsha's 10 on the 10th is often one of my favorite prompts to answer.  Rather than asking us specific questions this month, Marsha has asked us to share 10 things we like to do or eat in November. I thought I'd actually share 10 of each! Now not everything on my list is something we only like to do or eat in November-- we hike pretty much year round and you better believe that many of our favorite foods are enjoyed throughout the fall/winter season too but I'm sure you won't mind me taking a bit of a creative license with the prompt.  10 Things I like to DO in November: Hiking, of course! It's the second Monday of the month which means it's time for the Share Our lives link up. This month for the Share Our Lives link up we're sharing where we like to shop. I struggled a bit with this prompt since it's so open ended. I thought I'd list my "top 3" stores in various categories. inside our local Market Basket Groceries: Market Basket Price Chopper Stop and Shop For Gifts: Amazon (free shipping to family that lives far away is fabulous!)
