July Pinterest Challenge-- Cheesy Ranch Chex mix
Welcome to the July Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen!
This month the boys and I decided to try out a new Chex mix recipe. I wanted something chocolaty and sweet but Evan really wanted to try something with ranch so I agreed. We found this recipe for Cheesy Ranch Chex Mix and decided to give it a try.
Of course (as usual!) I did not completely follow the recipe. We make Chex mix often and like to make ours with bagel chips too so we added some to the pretzels, Cheez-its, and Chex cereal. We also didn't measure how much of each we used but just layered them in our large glass bowl until it was nice and full.
We melted 3 Tablespoons butter in the microwave. We added in the 1 ounce packet of Ranch seasoning and the 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese to the bowl and drizzled everything with the melted butter then gave it all a really good stir to try and make sure everything was evenly coated.
We put the mix in the oven to bake according to directions (250 degrees for an hour stirring every 15 minutes). It smelled AMAZING! (We've since made this again and tried microwaving it for 6 minutes; stirring every two and it worked just as great).
It was chuck full of great flavor.
I would definitely make it again and I'm pretty sure we found a new family favorite.

Chex Mix is one of my favorite snacks, but I’m guilty of buying it at the store. This looks & sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteWe do that too sometimes; it's just so easy. Though we do like to try our hand at making our own and mixing up the flavors and supplies.
DeleteMy boys would love this, they adore anything ranch flavor and in snack form, lol!
ReplyDeleteThis is sooo good! My youngest son loves ranch flavored crackers and snacks (though not ranch dressing; go figure!) but he's the one that picked this out and has asked me to make it each and every time we've run out.
DeleteYum, this looks great and easy to make too! My daughters would love it too.
ReplyDeleteI love easy to make recipes; they're the best.
DeleteThat looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteIt is sooo good!
DeleteMmmm, I love chex mix and don't treat myself with it often enough. Definitely on my list to make soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it!
DeleteThat sounds delicious! I will have to try it for my family, because they love their Ranch!
ReplyDeleteThat is one flavor that everyone here seems to like too.
DeleteYum! I particularly like the idea of adding in bagel chips, and I just LOVE ranch dressing.
ReplyDeleteThe bagel chips give it a nice crunch.
DeleteRanch dressing makes everything so good. I love quick and easy recipes and will need to make this the next time I have company over.
ReplyDeleteIt really does make everything taste better doesn't it?
DeleteThe recipe sounds great! I never heard of bagel chips, I'm going to have to see if I can find them, they look like a great addition to this classic recipe! Thanks for sharing! Pinned!
ReplyDeleteThey are yummy! I love them with hummus too.
DeleteMy kids would have loved this when they were young! Actually they probably still would! Pinning!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pin!
DeleteThis looks like a tasty snack. It's great that you found a new family favorite. Pinning.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice and flavorful.
DeleteYou can't go wrong with a delicious mix like this one will pin.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pin.
DeleteOh, yes, please. With a cold beer? Got a kick out of your comment that you don't always follow recipes. High five, girl. I wrote the very same thing about my cheesy corn dip recipe. Heck, recipes are just suggestions! This looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteExactly! I have always considered a recipe as a loose suggestion; my only problem is that I rarely take note of how I alter or change it and that can make it tough to recreate a recipe my family really enjoys. I'm trying to be more mindful of that though.
DeleteI've always been a fan of Chex Mix. I will buy it, but for a group it's probably more fun to make a huge bowl with everything you love.
ReplyDeleteWe like making our own sometimes since we can change up what we put it and the flavor that we give it too.
DeleteI think my daughter would enjoy making this and eating it! She loves to help Mommy (me) cook.
ReplyDeleteMy boys enjoy helping out in the kitchen too; especially when it's something they enjoy eating.
DeleteThis sure would be a big hit in our house! Thank you so much for sharing your yummy recipe!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteYum! My kids love Ranch too, so I know they would love this recipe. I also like your shortcut of making it in the microwave :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's just much easier and quicker that way. Our new oven, while amazing, takes forever to heat up.
DeleteYou cook like I cook! Looks delicious!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
