July Pinterest Challenge-- Cheesy Ranch Chex mix

Welcome to the July Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop, hosted by My Pinterventures. The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen!

This month the boys and I decided to try out a new Chex mix recipe. I wanted something chocolaty and sweet but Evan really wanted to try something with ranch so I agreed.  We found this recipe for Cheesy Ranch Chex Mix and decided to give it a try.

Of course (as usual!) I did not completely follow the recipe.  We make Chex mix often and like to make ours with bagel chips too so we added some to the pretzels, Cheez-its, and Chex cereal.  We also didn't measure how much of each we used but just layered them in our large glass bowl until it was nice and full.

We melted 3 Tablespoons butter in the microwave.  We added in the 1 ounce packet of Ranch seasoning and the 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese to the bowl and drizzled everything with the melted butter then gave it all a really good stir to try and make sure everything was evenly coated.

We put the mix in the oven to bake according to directions (250 degrees for an hour stirring every 15 minutes).  It smelled AMAZING!  (We've since made this again and tried microwaving it for 6 minutes; stirring every two and it worked just as great).

It was chuck full of great flavor.

I would definitely make it again and I'm pretty sure we found a new family favorite.

    1. This is sooo good! My youngest son loves ranch flavored crackers and snacks (though not ranch dressing; go figure!) but he's the one that picked this out and has asked me to make it each and every time we've run out.

  12. Oh, yes, please. With a cold beer? Got a kick out of your comment that you don't always follow recipes. High five, girl. I wrote the very same thing about my cheesy corn dip recipe. Heck, recipes are just suggestions! This looks fabulous.

    1. Exactly! I have always considered a recipe as a loose suggestion; my only problem is that I rarely take note of how I alter or change it and that can make it tough to recreate a recipe my family really enjoys. I'm trying to be more mindful of that though.

  13. I've always been a fan of Chex Mix. I will buy it, but for a group it's probably more fun to make a huge bowl with everything you love.
