A Simple Red Fruit Salad for the Summer

There is just something about a fresh fruit salad in the middle of the summer that always seems to hit the spot. They're juicy and sweet and refreshing and I love how just switching out a few fruits here and there each time make the salads so totally different!

This week we had lots of red fruits lying around so I decided to throw together a red fruit salad.

I used:
Watermelon
Cherries
Red Grapes
Strawberries

I love the mixing tastes of the fruit so I chose not to put any sort of syrup or juice in it.  I began with the cherries, cutting the fruit in half and pulling out the pits. Once I covered the bottom of the bowl I moved onto the next fruit.

I diced the watermelon into bite sized pieces and added another layer to the bowl.

I washed off the red grapes and chose to leave them whole but I could have halved them (and would have if we had any young kids in our family).  After adding another layer I then halved some fresh picked strawberries to top it all off.

Before serving I made sure to mix it all up!  I just love all those shades of red together and the flavors just burst in our mouths.

What's your favorite fruit salad combination?

    1. You know I really am not much of a fruit person beyond strawberries, pineapple and fresh picked apples in the fall but I do find that if I make it as a salad I just LOVE it. All those flavors are so sweet and loaded with juices.
