Virtual Refrigerator-- Making Marbled Paper with Spray Paint

We had a lot of fun last week playing around with our spray paint cans to make some pretty marbled paper.

Thanks for stopping by and joining us again this week as we host another virtual refrigerator arts and crafts link up.

I was surprised at just how easy this was to do!  I knew with spray paint it would be messy so we headed outside.

I brought out a bucket of water, some half sheets of watercolor paper, our spray paint cans, disposable gloves, a wooden skewer and paper towels.

We were pretty sure we knew what to do since the instructions sounded a lot like the the marbled mugs we made using nail polish.

We sprayed the paint onto the surface of the water and then bumped the sides of the bucket to get the paint swirling around a bit.

Then we quickly laid the paper on top and when we pulled it away the paper had picked up all the paint.

We found we had to work quickly but not nearly as quickly as with the nail polish.

The boys had a lot of fun playing around with the colors and trying different techniques.

Alec preferred the two- handed method

In between papers we used the wooden skewer to pick up any excess paint that was still floating around on the top surface of the water.

For the combination pictured below Alec dipped the paper once in purple and white paint and then sprayed blue and dipped the paper a second time.

We aren't quite sure what we want to do with these papers but we're thinking of using them to make some handmade cards with.  I do just love how they look though and could see framing a few in one large frame for a piece of modern art.

Now without further ado I invite you to grab a "magnet" and link up your arts and crafts posts below and visit some other bloggers to see what they shared on their refrigerators.

Your art project doesn't need to be a stand alone post, nor does it need to be a tutorial.  We love day in the life posts or homeschooling wrap- ups that show art work too!

So what do you have to share with us?
