Virtual Fridge-- Alec's Mini Sculpture Gardens

Thanks for stopping by and joining us again this week as we host another virtual refrigerator arts and crafts link up.

Alec has been having so much fun working with the oven baked clay that he has moved beyond making figures.

He has begun making entire sciences using clay, molds, rocks, and even resin. He watched a few videos and basically taught himself. His entire Easter basket was filled with more Sculpey clay and colors, some shaping tools, resin, and more to support this newfound passion.

First he molds the animals and any accessories made from clay then he bakes them according to instructions

Next he puts together a base to hold the sculpture garden.

He mixes and adds in the resin making sure to include any clay pieces that need to be encased in the resin

He lets it set up; making sure to blow off any bubbles that form.

Then he adds the rest of the clay pieces and either adds a tad more resin or uses glue to hold them in place

For the koi pond he used a soap making mold to pour the resin into after lining the bottom with small stones and placing his fish. When the resin was still tacky to the touch he added in his lily pads.

Once fully hardened we pried the koi pond out of the mold

He hot glued rocks all around the edges and added another waterfall to the corner.

I just love watching him create these scenes!
