April's Pinterest Challenge-- Mason Jar Gifts for Mother's Day
Welcome to the April Pinterest Challenge Blog Hop! The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate all the participants of this hop (and you too) to not just pin, but to make it happen!
So this month, my boys and I decided to get a head start on Mother's day. We made some fun glittery mason jar luminaries. We actually combined a few ideas from a couple of different Pinterest pins on decorating mason jars.
We knew we wanted a central image to show up on our jars but we wanted something that would really sparkle with the tealights and that's where the glitter came in. We found this wonderful tutorial for glittering up some Mason jars and just cobbled the rest of the craft together on our own.
First we drew and cut out some simple shapes using vinyl. We cut them our and put them on the jars on a nice smooth space.
Then the boys brushed some Elmer's Glue All over the entire jar; sometimes working in sections, sometimes covering the whole jar.
Then while the glue was wet they sprinkled glitter over the whole thing. We put a few papers down underneath to catch any excess glitter and put it back in the jar.

We set the jars aside to dry and peeled off our vinyl stencils. Truth be told I was impatient and didn't wait for them to dry before peeling off the images.
I tied some raffia bows around the jar rim and put a battery powered tealight inside each one.
Their flower, butterfly and heart jars are finished! |
