100 Days of Science #23--Springfield Science Museum
The day that we went to visit the Seuss Museum we also went through the two art museums, the history museum and the science museum.
I think my boys' favorite was the science museum. It was a lot of fun with live animals, interactive exhibits
There were taxidermy animals around too which gave us a lot of opportunity to learn about animals that we don't normally see.
The boys loved this live snake.
Trying to match the baby animals with the adult animals based on a few clues.
Learning about leaves and trees.
Learning about animal tracks in the snow.
For this exercise each of the younger two boys sat on one side of the glass table and played with the lights to see how they could only see their own reflections at times and at other see only each other.
The younger two boys have been playing a video game about dinosaurs called Ark and they had the greatest time in the dinosaur rooms looking at fossils and model dinosaurs.
The Africa room had lots of animals and so many boards dedicated to different tribes.
Ian and Evan had a fabulous time playing with this simulator that allowed them to pick meteors and falling objects, the trajectory, and what planet they'd hit. They tried to blow up all the planets.
It was a wonderful day filled with fun science discoveries.

I think I was just as excited as my boys to explore all the rocks, gems, and minerals on display. So many of them were so neat looking!

Springfield has some great resources we never seem to get out that direction.
ReplyDeleteWe rarely do either so I wanted to try and see as much as we could in one day.
DeleteThat looks like such a fun place to explore!
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun. My boys love science museums.
DeleteI haven't been to the museums in Springfield, but looks like an educational day for the boys!

It certainly was!
DeleteLooks like a lot of fun, without realizing they're learning!
ReplyDeleteThat's the best way to get them to learn.. without them realizing it.
DeleteAnother cool museum, it reminds me a bit of the Natural History Museum in London with all those stuffed animals! What a cool place.
ReplyDeleteIt reminded me a bit of a natural history museum too with all the stuffed animals.
DeleteIt really is the best way of learning - visiting a museum. This one looks great!
ReplyDeleteWe love museums!
DeleteThis looks a perfect place to explore and learn about things. We visited a castle at the weekend who had a lion as rug! That gave us lots to learn about and talk to them about!!
ReplyDeleteI bet; my boys would be asking tons of questions about a lion rug too.
DeleteWhat a great place to explore and learn! Love the dino!
ReplyDeleteHe was HUGE! There was a speaker nearby that kept making low grumbling sounds too; my boys thought it was fantastic.
DeleteThis looks like a great day out. I love science museums and how interactive they are these days, I think children learn so much more when they can get hands on with the exhibits.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the #FamilyFunLinky x
I think they do too and I am finding that so many more museums are making interactive exhibits too.
DeleteLooks like a great day out. My son would love the dinosaur section :)
ReplyDeleteThere is just something so fascinating about them!
DeleteMuseums have changed so much since I was a kid. I love how interactive they are these days, making learning so much more fun. #FamilyFun
ReplyDeleteThey have changed a lot! I love that they're becoming more and more interactive. Even as an adult I find that a lot more interesting than just reading signs.
